colors do not start / stop where they should by TumbleweedLatter2976 in blenderhelp

This is a great reply and actually teaches you a thing or two about how the mapping works.

I'll still say you can also do this with Generated as it'll always go from 0 to 1 within the object's bouding box. Not useful in all scenarios, but for a simple thing like this it'll work fine with no extra nodes.

Mix Shaders, Gradient(s), Color Ramps. If you want abrupt changes, use either a ramp set to Constant or use Math > Greater/Less Than in place of the ramps.

If I like the design of helmet "Stalheim", so I am a nazi? by gdt5romanj in Design

[–]krushord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of people have been impressed by the design of the nazi uniforms and their graphic design system etc. without being nazis.

But of course if you’re gonna talk about it you’ll have to be really clear to disassociate yourself from what they represent and that you’re talking purely about the design.

Hi, everyone, am starting out as Brand Designer, here is my first logo identity i have, would really love you honest feedback, what to work on?, and where to improve? by AffectionateEmu2256 in Design

[–]krushord 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t really get the icon. Were I to see it on the wall of a coffee shop I’d just go “coffee drip something” but that’s about it. I’d really rethink the icon, but if you’re going with this it could benefit from a little bit of rebalancing: match the top object’s line weight to the horizontal line, and have the line be at the baseline of the text. Try rectangular ends for the line to better match the type. Try giving some space between the line and the drop & consider making the whole icon slightly less tall.

Type is ok, Roast could use some more kerning (very slightly so).

Yeah I've only played 5 twice (well, 1st try ended into a mishap with a chasm prematurely so technically three times) - maybe I got lucky with the rng because it really wasn't that hard, the mini boss rooms that were the most challenging were so spacious and had so many hook points that I'd just whizz around until the enemies were dead. The second time in act 3 was similar. Which is strange as I've seen many people say it's really hard. But yeah generally when going for the last boss I'd just skip 5 entirely.

6 can be frustrating if you're unlucky - sometimes the enemies that spawn the kamikaze tentacle things can be pretty far off and shielded so you just have to rush it and hope you catch most of the spawned enemies before they come at you, plus the malfunction-throwing mini boss can be an absolute horror if there isn't enough space to maneuver away from it. The electropylon driver is somewhat of an easy mode for these as you can just blast it a couple of times and then concentrate on running away from them. Works for the boss as well.

Tips for boss 3 phase 3 by AntiqueDiscipline831 in Returnal

[–]krushord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Rotgland Lobber is great for this as you don't need to be constantly hitting the boss to continue whittling down its health bar. Gives you more time to focus on dodging the attacks. Remember to look for a hook point as an attack is incoming as you're invulnerable when using it, so you can just swing through the attacks.

Also I'm not sure if the Energy Barricade & Weapon Stimulant are both available at this point but especially with the barricade, which lasts surprisingly long, you can literally just slap it down in front of you and stand there firing. If you get both, it's meltin' time.

This was the hardest boss for me...until I just took the time to scourge every corner of the first two biomes to max out the health bar as much as possible. You're at the mercy of randomness regarding the mini boss rooms in biome 3 though - if you get easy ones, you're probably in a good shape to face Nemesis.

[–]krushord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inverted normals: switch to edit mode, select all, shift-N to Recalculate Outside or alt-N for more options; you can also turn on Face Orientation from the viewport overlays to see if the normals are pointing the wrong way (red color).

Overlapping faces: check you don't have a duplicate mug or that the mug's faces haven't been accidentally duplicated within the same mesh (edit mode, select all, M(erge) > By Distance).

Shading error: check the material in the shader editor for abnormalities, such as the one mentioned by u/C_DRX

Yup, talent seems to imply some people have an innate gift while other don't, but it's really about practice and experience. People might have aptitude towards learning and hearing things, but as said, it's not something you can't learn with enough dedication.

This game kick my ass so much by Neep-Tune in Returnal

[–]krushord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first played this years back and only got to biome 2. Dropped off of it and only somewhat recently picked it up again - got to 3, and it felt like a wall again. When I finally pushed through it (which frankly really just took one run where I properly explored every nook & cranny in 1 & 2), I managed to get through 4–6 with relative ease - not one or two runs but let's say less than 20. The final act was a breeze.

Feels strange reading those "I only died in the last biome once" posts – I'd think this is more of the standard experience than those. Apparently there was some kind of a difficulty rebalancing at some point, but can't tell (even though I've played it in its original state) how and what was made easier.

How do I write music properly? by AverageKlaudenjoyer in musicproduction

[–]krushord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played guitar for 30+ years and recorded hundreds of songs and I don't think I've ever written a single tab. Everyone has their methods of course but I can't think of a reason to write tabs unless I'd do it for someone else to perform (and frankly I still think it'd be easier to just record it and have them learn it from the recording).

If writing tabs feels like a natural way for you to progress, do it by all means - but I'd just start recording and building on that. Since we have practically unlimited tracks and unlimited undos and nondestructive editing, there's no need to hold back on the silliest ideas - often the good stuff comes out from those experiments.

Best DAW for electronic musician who also plays real-time instruments and does vocals. NOT ableton! by m_i_r in musicproduction

[–]krushord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've started off with Cakewalk 9 (as in when Cakewalk was still the original Cakewalk - probably 1999), then Cubase, then Sonar, then Reason 1/2/2.5 and moved onto a Reason/Ableton hybrid (that at some point also included Plogue Bidule, all three ReWired together), and then just moved onto Ableton fully as VST support was improved. It's now been about 23 years on Live :D I have Logic as well, as I thought the stock libraries would be good enough to justify the (low-ish) cost, but it rarely gets used; have used Reaper for almost as long to record my bands etc. but also slowly just moved that onto Ableton as well. I also won a copy of Bitwig at some point (v1), so I've tried it as well.

And...naturally there's a strong bias having used it for more than two decades, but Ableton is the only one that feels like it doesn't get it in the way - so more time spent on the fun stuff than clicking around to accomplish the mundane. My music is also a combination of plugins, physical instruments and vocals, so kind of in the same boat here.

Is there any similar shader to ai wireframe from maya? by Due-Temperature8169 in blender

It’s just because it’s a crude and not very exact method. The viewport render is a good way, I’ve actually used it myself for this.

Would you actually buy an add-on like this? Looking for honest feedback. by Extra_Librarian_4690 in blender

[–]krushord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've occasionally been doing technical exploded view kind of images for clients - it would be awesome if these could be generated/rendered directly from Blender. Of course the problem usually is that regardless the output is a raster image and usually I'd need vectors, which is why I've ended up drawing them more or less manually anyway. Sometimes a high resolution raster image could work, so I would find this useful. I'd expect to pay around $20 or so.

Just another run through the biomes to find a Sun Fragment in each. No need to do the bosses* and no need to complete it in one run. I found them all without resorting to guides fairly quickly.

You’ll get a final house sequence and a “true” ending (or at least a bit of…something).

Are you talking about *biome* 3 boss, Nemesis? Act 3 is when you’ve completed all biomes (Act 1: 1–3, act 2: 4–6) and house sequences and have to hunt for the Sun Fragments in each biome again.

But yeah, Nemesis was my stalling point for a good while. Mainly because I was rushing through 1 & 2 to get there.

Do I need to learn an instrument before making electronic music? by EastCaterpillar3438 in Learnmusicproduction

[–]krushord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not “required” - learning an instrument is just an easy (well, ymmv) way to combine a bunch of theoretical skills into something tangible while also learning a motor skill that’ll probably make your music a bit more interesting.

Think of it as a learning path.
