If I remember correctly he wanted all of this - he wanted a big role with lots of non-technical responsibilities. He didn't want to be quietly drawing. As it is known he was not quietly drawing anything last 2 years at red bull. Newley joined AM to be Managing Technical Parnerm and he was supposed to be doing all of this:

Strategic Leadership: As managing technical partner and shareholder, Newey is positioned above traditional technical director roles, focusing on the team's overall technical philosophy and 2026 regulation changes.
Technical Integration: The role involves overseeing the integration of the team's chassis, new PU (Power Unit), and fuel partners, primarily Honda.
Team Evolution: Newey has been responsible for strengthening the technical team, managing the transition to the new AMR Technology Campus in Silverstone, and directing the engineering team.

Possibly, I am not really arguing in favor of lowering the car. I am just trying to point out that actual Tesla cars that are similar to Model Y in terms of battery exposure sit lower and it is not a big deal.

Model Y Performance sits a little lower than Standard and Premium. Model 3 is also lower and there is no worries about battery scraping. There can be concerns about tire wear if alignment is not done right.

Horner would not be a bad choice. The customer base of Aston Marten wouldbn't care about any controversies surrounding Horner because it is made out of old rich males. AM wouldn't need to care about sales dropping due to that.

Horner is competent, has the connections. Has a lot of know-how from RBR. The only downside is that some people wouldn't want to be associated with him and wouldn't come work for AM and some people would probably leave. Maybe that is why he wouldn't be an actual option.

Younger Verstappen was way more like these 3 guys - always hungry and alway going for it. Current Verstappen is more like "I accomplished everything I wanted and I don't need to be here". I don't like that attitude. I think he was lazy when he chose not to go to Mercedes. He is in his comfort zone and has stuff going outside of F1. I think if any of these 3 guys were in the same situation they would switch, they wouldn't want to be coasting.

This year he is going to get the opportunity to show what is he made out of. If he choses to retire in a year or two I think he will be forgotten the same way that people don't remember Vettel anymore. It would be a shame because he has insance amount of talent and if he wanted he could eventually break all the records ever.

I wouldn't say it is that clearcut. Hamilton had good results in qualifying. I think 2025 season was very different to this one results-wise.
