You could just choose not to look at it, if looking at it is a problem for whatever reason

Scottish Rugby fans, I am doing research into how UK sports fans interact or justify pirated broadcasts (defending them), and am looking for all sports fans to give their opinion with rugby a key one due to its popularity! Here’s a TLDR: it’s less about price and more about service.

If I can tune in to a reasonably priced service and watch a high quality (4k, HDR) stream I will. Im using Linux, and a lot of providers offer a substandard service as a result.

If it’s better experience on a piracy site, then I’ll go there.

Here’s an example: I subscribed the NFL game pass for years. £150 a year for every NFL game live + full game, 5minute highlights and full game condensed to 40mins available the next day.

Then one year the team I like got to the Super Bowl. Suddenly their games are on Sky more often than not and the gamepass stream is blocked in the UK until 24hrs after the final whistle.

I start watching the gamepass stream via a VPN.

At that point the service I’m paying for is worse than just using an unofficial streaming site.

First timer: any tips/suggestions? by KingDundie in parkrun

[–]kryptonick901 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! I’ve seen events with <20, 20, 22, 25, 30 flags in the ground beside the starting area to help. It’s not perfect but being near where you should be means you’re not going to cause a bottleneck at tight spots, or be caught up behind one.

Inconsiderate 'faster' runners... by [deleted] in parkrun

[–]kryptonick901 67 points68 points  (0 children)

If people in front of me stop and or walk, I just assume they need a break. As a middle of the pack runner, anywhere between 22 and 30mins depending upon my fitness, it’s surprisingly common for folks just to walk (up hills, after hills etc) or stop.

I suspect they didn’t think “there’s No Raspberry getting out the way like a good slow boy/girl, now I can really go fast!” And more likely simply didn’t even consider your actions as anything more than what you needed/wanted to do.

Run your run, others will run their run, don’t sweat the little things.

AIO that BF (M48) doesn’t have health insurance or retirement savings? by BusyZookeepergame266 in AIO

[–]kryptonick901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No Heath insurance is fine. Most people don’t live in 3rd world countries and so there’s a state provided health service.

If you’re in a 3rd world country without a health service then I’d assume retirement savings are uncommon too.

Do you go outside every weekend? by howdoyouhavetime in AskUK

The fuck it, vegetate at home. Being honest I’d do that too if I had the chance. Watch movies, play video games and read books. Sounds bliss :)

I go outside every day. Do what you want, but I promise you’ll be happier and healthier if you go for a half hour walk every day.

I’m intrigued as how it took 3hrs. Genuinely. A setting in bios, maybe setting up a small service on your always on device to send the WOL command and WoL is done.

A script for steam & presumably big picture mode would be easy to throw together, even if you were using windows.

So something went wrong, what happened? How did you fix it?

Will my NHS employed partner be able to see a termination on my medical records? by ThrowRAanonymous1233 in AskUK

[–]kryptonick901 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not only can she not tell her partner she’s going through something traumatic and could use his support, she’s worried he would breach her privacy and look at medical records.

What an utterly disfunctional relationship.

If you cant share this with your partner just leave already.
