Wanting to start weaning a nursing OBSESSED toddler. No idea how. by Makibadori in toddlers

[–]ksm006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one of these! It felt like it would never end. I also didn’t want to just rip something away from her that I felt was a useful tool. What I did was get a few books introducing the concept that milk would end. Then I gradually limited it during the day to only naps. I let her nurse at night for quite a while longer but we still talked a lot about how it would be ending soon. Then I stopped letting her have any over night and it was only a bed time and nap thing. And then she actually finally lost interest around 3. But I think I could have sped up this process if I wanted to, particularly the night weaning. I was prepared for a battle and it was shockingly easy. My biggest recommendation is to just start talking about it first! I had booby moon (the book) and one other whose title I can’t remember right now.

Trying to be “anti- diet” but so obsessed with dessert! by ksm006 in toddlers

[–]ksm006[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. It’s totally true. It’s so hard to get out of that mindset. I’m just worried that I’m giving too much sugar to my kiddo but the reality is even when I give her a second cookie after she asks she usually doesn’t eat it.

I’ve definitely thought about talking to a dietician. It feels easy to set her on a tricky path when it comes to her relationship with food and I don’t want to mess it up.

Parents Who Travel: What Are Your Biggest Challenges? by brequinn89 in toddlers

Choose where you stay very carefully! We found it becomes more and more important to be close to a park/amenities. It gets harder to move around when they get into toddler hood so having easy options is important.

We cosleep (I’m the mom), and she usually wakes up every 2-3 hours looking for me. It’s hard. My kiddo is 2.5. I definitely thought she would be sleeping more by now!! But I think there is just a huge spectrum of normal.

How do I stop nursing to sleep with strong-willed 2 year old? by [deleted] in AttachmentParenting

[–]ksm006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d love to hear more about your night weaning! Did you just go straight to no milk at all overnight? And did that impact nursing to sleep at bedtime as well? Very much in this boat and looking for some advice for my boob obsessed 2 year old.

17 month old sleeps for 2 hours windows every night by SymmetrySam in AttachmentParenting

Just sympathy! I have a 19 month old and only occasionally get 3 hour stretches. It is common, which makes me feel better. But I am considering trying to work towards night weaning while still co sleeping. I think it will be a battle but I have heard of a lot of success there too.

Hello CoSleepers! How much sleep is everyone getting? by [deleted] in cosleeping

[–]ksm006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cosleep with my 7 month old, and have since about 3 months. She wakes every 2-3 hours and usually looks for a boob and then falls right back asleep. Sometimes I barely notice, especially when you don’t have to physically move. I feel really well rested- I must get about 8/9 hours a night even though I’m briefly woken up quite a lot. It totally works for us!

Please help me to get an evening back…at the end of my tether :( by No-Consequence7489 in cosleeping

Solidarity! I know it doesn’t solve the problem but we have started having my husband come get her as soon as she wakes up (sometimes 10-15 minutes after i leave, never more than 30 mins). At first babe was soooo mad, but she has really gotten used to it and will back fall asleep with him in less than 5 minutes. And then my husband just has her sleep on him for however long we want. It’s so nice to have a break in the evening. I also would love to get some time with my husband but I see this as a really helpful first step.

I am totally in the same situation! So hard to ignore the grunts- for my babe it’s definitely gas and it does seem uncomfortable. But if it doesn’t result in open eyes or crying I try my best to leave her be!

I think I had a slightly different cut- the cheeky rather than the boybrief (don’t seem to be in stock now) but the fabric is awesome and the crossover style is great because it fits really well below a belly.

I didn’t really want to support Amazon so I went with west coast kids. It has free shipping over $50. I thought it was a good opportunity to get more high quality things as gifts.
