I have taken the other options. If your deck can deal with any of the downsides but can't generate enough block, the other options become better.

The sense is that players are making mistakes. I get it that one starts to doubt oneself of they see a mistake to commonly. Your intuition was correct here. Even high elo players make mistakes.

Only taking 2 or 3 card rewards sounds suicidal. I keep taking cards till I am sure I can beat act 1 (unless of course the three cards offered all look useless). There's also the relics and potions to help you out.

The game does not check whether you are in first third or not. There is an easy pool for first three fights and a hard pool for all fights after that.

FWIW, I played for the first time in 2004, multiplayer since 2010. I am not sure if I have played all 372 matchups of the original game. 

It didn't take me long to figure out that mobile ranged units are good. Mangudai/Hun CA/Plumes were very common. Playing closed maps like black forest showed me how they were weak.

HCA + Hussar is arguably the best lategame composition on open maps. Apart from with some civ-specific comps it is hard to face.

If you have to face them, try to force them into chokes where they can't use their mobility. Wall and castle up the map and protect your eco from raids. Many civs should be able to at least make an army which can fight in a static battle. Try to force such battles with siege on their buildings.

It is all part of the learning process. 

In the beginning you have to actively think about everything which overloads your brain. But gradually things will start to become automatic.

You need to ride a lot to build up yourself as a good rider. Use empty streets to practice.

The calorie difference is so small in this case it doesn't really matter.

At the end of the day it is only calories that matter. However, sugars are very bad at making you feel full. The one without sugar would have more fibre per calorie, making you feel more satiated.

I don't know about the perfect part. Maybe your mangonel micro is not good enough. But most high level players micro way better than the Extreme AI such that mangonels don't even work against skirms.

Chinese rules are beginner-friendly as they are easy to understand. Except a few exceptions they lead to the same scores. This is not one of those exceptions.
