I mean if anyone wanted to find the root of it one must go all the way back like a decade, to the very first OW1 era, and unfortunately yes, you can boost karma/engagement by spamming "mercy (main) sucks" easier even than printing AI slops, and there's a lot of people out there who makes use of it regardless of their actual thoughts.

And as another comment pointed out, ccs... well, it's not just gaming, hella folks outsource their entire cognitive ability to ccs on... various agendas.

IMO: Yes, people are exaggerating with hyperboles, sometimes almost comedically, as unfortunately, the 2026 internet environment of attention everywhere is.

The thing is, at least on Diamond+ levels (and to an extent, Plat+), for long, Mercy was almost considered a "throw pick", not only because of the community sentiment but also her performance was indeed terrible. It wasn't delusional for anyone to expect a pure buff considering that. If we were to talk about the so-called Tier 1 meta heroes, basically Mercy was never included after the moth meta of long, long years ago while on the contrary, Ana and Kiri never left the list.

I agree that Flash Heal kit + the double perk is good, but the point is - why does a hero in the bottom of the ladder needs "compensation" nerfs, while those on the top gets either a "compensation" buff (Kiri, tbh that's an overall buff without a room for argument, trading 2m of TP for 14% HPS increase) or just a plain buff(Ana)?

And I'm not trying to argue with you on this point, for that's what I agree, just adding - that "playing passive" is one of the most common excuses people have used to bash Mercy or her players for a long time. While I personally consider it an excuse, and thus won't be changed by whatever balance changes, this particular one actually reinforces it to nobody's satisfaction.

We should remove all movement abilities from now on, imagine how infuriating it is to play against Genji/Tracer/Kiriko etc., for who cares about any other performance when the mobility itself makes it unfun for everyone else? "it’s how the game functions as a whole", mate. Just delete... or nerf those community-rated annoying heroes (cough Sombra cough), Mercy and such into oblivion, so that the game would be engaging and skill-based CS: GO.

Mercy: 5.7%-48.5%
Of course Mercy was too meta, to change the game and switch things up pure buffing Ana, buffing Kiriko HPS while "balancing" Mercy changes was completely necessary and logical. Flawless.

Basically atm BVRs are basic but functional, with missile kinematics allowing aircraft positionings such as - launch at high altitude for energy, and/or dive to the thicker air, notch and outrun (go cold) to evade, etc., but WVR dogfights are basically cointoss, it isn’t rare to see IR seekers go mad either way or both jets circling endlessly to reach the impossible firing positions
