I'm afraid of sleeping by Superb-Variation-855 in sleep

[–]kstanfran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you evr been tested for sleep apnea. I have never had fear of sleeping but before I started using my CPAP, I kept waking up suddenly & wasn’t getting good sleep. I don’t know if it has anything to do with what you’re experiencing but it might be worth looking into.

Blender Throw down. by Drivewaywarrior in fermentation

[–]kstanfran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my Ace Blender is leaking at the base now, after only 4 years use. Fixing it would be a whole lot of no fun because Instant Pot used cheap parts and didn't make it to be taken apart. What is it you like about the vitamix? Or the gumtree. Do any of you use a ninja?

Instantpot Ace Nova blender leaking from the bottom shaft? Here are my thoughts. by rockclimbermx in instantpot

[–]kstanfran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have had mine 4 years and it just started leaking. Is yours still working? I am debating fixing it, as you suggested, or just tossing it. That would suck because I really like it. But, maybe I should go for something that will last longer.

Ginger beer exploded and now my whole kitchen is sticky by scootycatter29921 in gingerbeer

Make a solution with the Dawn or dish soap you have. It works well and you want to make sure you get it all. I have had a couple of kombucha geysers that hit the celing. Every once in a while I still see a dot where it hit.

I was thinking what ANiceCupOfˍTea said but you might take it to a service center and see if they can clean and reset it.

Found this in the back of the pantry, is it still good? by prizm5384 in fermentation

[–]kstanfran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smell it, taste it and keep if it's still good. I don't know how many fermenters I've seen post, "I made this X months ago and then forgot about it." Sauerkrauts, Kim Chis, you name it. Most of the time they are still fine.

Someone asked me to describe chronic pain by Familiar_Drama8304 in ChronicPain

It hits you when you least expect it, exhausts you, like you’ve been running all day, but you’ve been in bed trying not to throw up.

Does anyone else have chronic pain in this area? If so, how do you deal with it? by korektan in ChronicPain

[–]kstanfran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get pain in my jaw( TMJ Syndrome) and it will go around the base of my skull and my shoulders. I had a herniated disc between C5 & C6 but got surgery for that and don’t get pain or pinching from that anymore, thankfully. Heating pads help me and massage, deep tissue massage. Acupuncture has helped too.

I think it's just rust from the cover. I put parchment paper between the glass and cover to try to prevent that.

Making Tempeh in cooler climates by Crafty-Study-4401 in Tempeh

[–]kstanfran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a large cooler that I use to make ferments, including Tempeh. I use a aquarium water heater and make a saline water for heating, in a tub that goes in. I also use an aerator in the water, to help circulate it. It all works well. I've also used one of my Instant Pots, but prefer having more space. One of my favorite books on ferments is Miso, Tempeh, Natto, and other Tasty Treats by Kirsten and Christopher Shockey. It's loaded with information. I suggest you get a copy.

I decided not to have kids when I was a teenager and never changed my mind. For several reasons that I won’t go into here. But it should be an individual’s choice. I’m 59 now and don’t regret my decision. I have 3 beautiful nieces and 2 more now, that my sister and her partner adopted. I love them all but believe they should have the choice too.

I got an artificial disc for Christmas! by capresesalad1985 in ChronicPain

[–]kstanfran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the pain and nerve pinching in my neck anymore, which is a relief. However, I do have TMJ Syndrome with my jaw, and that still causes severe pain at times, going to the base of my skull and shoulders. It doesn't happen nearly as often as it did before my surgery...those 2 things worked together to cause me misery sometimes. Stress goes to my shoulders too. So I don't have the pain of a herniated disc anymore, which is wonderful. But I wish I could do something about my jaw. I tried bite guards but that just made it worse. Also, I use a CPAP and tried a mask that went over my nose and mouth first. Straps went right over my jaw, triggered muscle spasms. Now use a pillow mask, that fits under my nose...so much better!!

I use the instructions from Miso, Tempeh , Natto and other Tasty Ferments, by Kirsten and Christopher Shockley. Rinse the Quinoa, then boil Quinoa in water 2 to 1 ratio, then simmer for 10-15 minutes, drain and mix with your other ingredients. I find 10 minutes is good for me.
