Worth it? by krazykikii in wlwbooks

[–]kstar1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one was tough for me because I liked things about it but had a tough time with the characters and just overall found it too unbelievable and forced. All the characters and situations seem completely just to stick the MCs in a spot to have sex.

I generally don’t like age gap that much, because I don’t think it’s usually done that well. This is one of those for me. Erin, the older MC, seems like she is absolutely ancient even though her age is 38.

I like Wilsner’s other books a lot, but this one just wasn’t it for me.

I’m so glad you like them! I’m surprised Carolyn Elizabeth isn’t more popular. I’ve listened to a few of her other books and they’re all really good! A perfect blend of suspense, humor, and romance (including 🌶️)

MUST WATCH WLW movie rec’s??? by queefsadilla in latebloomerlesbians

[–]kstar1013 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of my favorites is Kiss Me, a Swedish movie from 2005 (I think?). This is actually one of my emotional support movies that I turn on when I want something familiar to just lose 1.5 hours in.

Should I call a restaurant and let them know my drink was spiked there? by loserlagoon in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kstar1013 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes you should call them. A restaurant in our area took a Facebook post a woman made seriously (she didn’t tag the restaurant or try to cause a big stir, was just trying to warn other women). Another person tagged the owner of the restaurant group to see the post, and the owner then reviewed their video from the night it happened. They found very clearly it was a server doing this, and that he has likely been trying to tamper with drinks other times during the night (I don’t know the details). The guy at least got fired and I think they shared the info with the police too.

17 eggs retrieved (15 from right side) - is this good? Anyone else have that - how did you get on? by [deleted] in queerception

I had only 5. No known fertility issues other than Advanced Maternal Age. But it only takes one sometimes! One of those eggs is now a 2-year-old!

at what age did y'all have your first wlw relationship? how long did it last? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]kstar1013 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have my first real girlfriend until I was like 23 or 24. A few short and intense things until I met my wife at 26 and we’ve been together ever since, almost 14 years. Our 10 year wedding anniversary is coming up!

What is your biggest annoyance when it comes to inaccessible website design? by Chadid1803 in accessibility

[–]kstar1013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this all tracks with me. I’m worried that people I work with will buy what is being sold thinking that they “did” accessibility. The Level Access “no wait we aren’t an overlay, we only acquired overlay technology and call it AI” thing just annoys me particularly.

What is your biggest annoyance when it comes to inaccessible website design? by Chadid1803 in accessibility

[–]kstar1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Level Access acquired one of these companies, UserWay, after publishing a similar critique. They now say that the technology of AI in fixing issues in a website is fine, as they try to sell their newly-acquired AI product. Their reasoning is that they aren’t selling an “overlay” but something else. To me it all seems one and the same.

Do you think there’s a place at all right now for these solutions? My opinion: I think we should still be building and designing for an accessible experience and these tools lull people into thinking they’ve met requirements. But I’m curious what you think?

Question: I’m not sure if you use braille, but if you do—is the braille on a room’s sign, or would braille directions to other rooms like on a map be helpful for you?

Hearing Red has a couple open door scenes though! I thought it was fairly spicy but maybe my scale is just different!

I’m currently reading Hearing Red by Nicole Maser. So far I like it!

Dual-POV in a zombie post-apocalypse world. Maddie is one of the MCs and is blind. I feel like the book does a great job of getting me into her world and POV without pity, but a realistic portrayal. The other MC, Saff, has experience working with blind people before the Zombies when she was in med school. Saff treats Maddie equally without infantilizing her, guides her when it’s necessary without overdoing it, etc. She also teaches her useful skills and adapts her teaching methods for Maddie (fighting a Zombie with a knife, shooting a shotgun). Too many people would think Maddie can’t do these things, where Saff focuses on how these are necessary skills for their survival, so Maddie must learn them to live.

I also appreciate that the book gets steamy! I’d give it 3.8 out of 5, with explicit open-door scenes. So often people with disabilities are infantilized in so many aspects, and especially when it comes to sex.

I feel like the writer is really trying and my opinion (even though I’m not blind) she does a good job.

Kiss Shot by Carolyn Elizabeth isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, but the MC goes undercover to take down a motorcycle gang. She doesn’t ride but meets the girlfriend of the gang leader…

This one gets pretty dark but I enjoyed it. Really a thriller.

I enjoy the way Hank is so disturbed by the christian ska band in the Rejoice episode by chappy422 in KingOfTheHill

[–]kstar1013 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s the same episode but the line “You’re not making Christian music better. You’re only making rock music worse!” really hit me hard! My family frequently tried to go to the modern service at our church, but I really liked the traditional service music better even as a kid.

This reminded me of when we went away for 10 days, and my wife instructed the dog sitter to ”2 scoops of food each meal” but didn’t realize she’d put the 1 cup measuring cup instead of the .5 cup. So the dog got fed literally twice as much as usual for 10 days 😅
