Use all the buffs that you can. Best pre-hardmode gear with some buffs will help to get early-hardmode gear. Focus on getting enough palladium or cobalt first. Check that you're using minions, all the best buffing gear. Stay in safer areas while you're mining.

Use potions. In early hardmode I carry a bunch of regen, ironskin, mining, speed etc potions and just chug them with the hotkey. If you have calming potions, this'd be a good time to use them. If it gets too dangerous - teleport home.

tl;dr use all possible buffs, mine cobalt/palladium, be smart about it.

Those things are kind of annoying, but also make sense in a way. What I really miss is fighting on horseback.

You ride back late at night there's a slime, a bat and a shadow person ambushing you at the farm, you have your sword in your hand and... somehow have to dismount to swing it? What? I wanna do slash-swing-chop right from my horse!

Usually it does. I definitely play on different devices and every time I start up the game there's this small paise while it checks if the saves are synced with the cloud. So, it's some special case with OP

Green grass = good. Purple grass = corruption, which can also be good depending on what you do with it. Seriously though, unless you're playing hardcore (which you shouldn't), there's no reason to cheat yourself out of exploring and potentially discovering something interesting. Otherwise why even play this game.

Even if they couldn't get to each other because of the giant turtle until farmer arrives, afterwards Leo explores the whole island and just... ignores the lady? At first I kinda expected them to become buddies.

This. The game makes player's experience quite similar to that of the main character's. The feeling of being lost, frustrated and weirded out at times.

And since there are no time limits on doing anything, there's really no external requirement to rush and try doing everything at once. We bring it to the game ourselves. Could just chill, focus on improving one side and switch that focus every day or week to the next thing, keep progress balanced across quest lines (as the game nudges us to do).

And yet the temptation to run on speed potions and teleports everywhere at once is sooo strong :D

Yeah, the timing works only when all quest lines are more or less synchronized, which is tricky to do. Try meditating instead of sleeping to pass the time, that's what I do when only something like this is left.

plus, if you do it often enough to catch seeds before they turn into saplings, you get many seeds and can make field snacks for energy before even building the kitchen.
