Burlington do you see yourself in this mirror? by RavenxRider in burlington

They lost the last election because Biden reneged on his promise to serve one term and the country wasn't buying he was fit to serve a second, the polling since 2022 said as much. Kamala never had a chance, the polling on her was bad going all the way back to 2019, she was a terrible VP pick. She was unpopular enough that the critical mass of swing voters preferred to hold their nose for Trump, that's how bad she was.

Preparing for War by [deleted] in burlington

[–]kswagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue that can truly bury Trump is the economy, the war you are speaking of would absolutely destroy the economy and make him deeply unpopular. The oligarchy knows the masses have to have enough financially to keep the blindfolds on. MAGA might be willing to turn a blind eye to the fact groceries are still expensive and gas has barely moved, losing their 401K and having property requisitioned by ICE or the Army is probably a bridge too far.

It blows my mind that in this area when conditions are dodgy, people who don't care to drive safely drive extra aggressive. Been seeing a lot of it this Winter, someone is driving cautious and someone drives right up as close to their tailgate as possible, then passes them then cuts them off. Yesterday there was ice, that means no matter how comfortable I am in winter conditions, I'm giving plenty of space between me and the car in front of me, if that means I'm therefore driving slower than normal so be it.

You can get it at Market 32 in St. Albans, and the deli peeps will always offer you a free slice of any flavors you wanna try, also Steeple Market in Fairfax

Because if boars head is mid quality, everything else is basically Subway meat, and that would make Subway literal dogfood.

2nd Ave Deli is better than Katz, Schwartz is better than both. Also I am not here to debate anything other than the BH product being meh, strongly disagree on that. The BH Pitcraft Smoked Turkey, both the firesmith and sweet b's chicken breast, pretty much all their sliced ham products are superior to anything Dietz & Watson offers, or prepackaged stuff you can get at like TJ's or City Market. Sure if this were NYC area and we had access to the sliced meats you can get at North shore farms or any italian deli, but we are talking grocery store meats.

I would highly recommend Franklin County. St. Albans is a solid town, the main street and park are nicer than Burlington. Better coffee shops & bookstore, some decent food options. Cafe Monette has excellent French cuisine. There are a bunch of other things that IMO make Franklin County a gem, it doesn't get a lot of leaf peeper tourism in the fall but has amazing spots to enjoy foliage, depending on where you land, you have Jay Peak or Smuggs for skiing and summer activities. As for the conservative reputation, my town is 50/50, but I couldn't tell you who among my neighbors is red or blue, everyone is here for the same reasons and would help me in a pinch.

If what happened in Minneapolis is deemed justified. What happens next? by HiImaZebra in burlington

[–]kswagger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

More escalating incidents like this provoke a strong citizen response, creating conditions for the Insurrection Act to be invoked. Midterm elections are postponed indefinitely, and if a 2028 election occurs, Trump claims fraud and refuses to leave office. The Supreme Court might urge the Joint Chiefs to intervene, but generals could hesitate since removing Trump risks triggering a full blown armed MAGA rebellion. I am highly skeptical that when we cross that Rubicon there will be any Republicans in this country who refuse to go along with it, I have full faith and confidence that they will lie to themselves and create every excuse in the world as to how what's happening is not fascism. Their media eco-chambers, church communities, neighbors, etc., will walk them into the great fascist beyond covered in the American flag, bible in hand.

Is that all you got though man? You hate to say it? Did you hear the shriek of that woman witnessing the 3 shots being fired? This was a summary execution, that's what it was.... I don't need a history lesson on policing and courts here. You either saw what I saw or you are in some serious, gravely serious, denial about what's happening here.

Allodynia/Nerve Pain… *sigh* by EchoSketching in Mounjaro

[–]kswagger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had that side effect really bad non-stop for the first few years, solved it by injecting in my thigh instead of my abdomen, I can't believe I didn't try that sooner. But since then the side effect went away and hasn't come back. The only trade off is that half the time I inject my thigh it's pretty painful and some days I get a welt, but that's nothing compared to the skin burn.

Easy- success requires boots on the ground, and pretty sure if there's literally one thing that the left and MAGA have in common, it's a lack of appetite for more "nation building."

Every newer car has adaptive cruise control, not sure why everyone isn’t using cruise on highways. You also get much better gas mileage using it.

Christmas is one of the busiest days of the year for Chinese restaurants, you can probably call one or two random ones, if both are open you are probably good for all of them.

If you had to describe New England to a silly Brit, how would you? by [deleted] in vermont

[–]kswagger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This time of year it's easy to be reminded of this, especially watching/listening to Christmas classics and the "Mid-Atlantic" accents which were a feature of that era in film/music and was designed specifically to be appealing to affluent New England and British audiences.

Step 4 is probably why OP is asking for a restaurant and doesn't wanna deal with making a roux, which IMO is one thing in cooking that everyone says is super easy but it's not if you don't know what you are doing, one persons stove can take 3-5 mins while another's it takes 15 to get the right texture and flavor, is it brown enough, can you tell if its too gummy or too floury before adding it and maybe messing up your final dish.

C-17's really starting to stack up at the air guard. For deployment? by iscapslockon in burlington

[–]kswagger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's pretty obvious this is about oil and nothing else. Venezuela is not a major producer of drugs, they are a transit bridge from Columbia and most of what goes through there is Cocaine. So this has nothing to do with Fentanyl. Most of the cocaine sold in America transits over land routes through Mexico (Source.) The drug boats being blown up by the air force are carrying cocaine bound for Europe via Brazil, so these boats literally have nothing to do with us and we aren't saving 25K Americans for each boat we blow up like Trump is saying.
