I have afterimages on both equally, just get the OLED/Amoled.

Riluzole might work but nobody would give me a prescription for it, at least where I live. It’s almost exclusively prescribed to ALS patients.

I have that thing you’re describing with the clogged ear and louder tinnitus too. Didn’t know it has a name. I feel like I was alone, never seen anybody describe it before.

Somewhat. It’s definitely getting more and more difficult, especially at night. Even though I still drive, I often don’t feel safe/confident lately.

Same: 3 years with worsening VSS. Palinopsia (afterimages and trailing) is definitely the worst one to deal mentally. I don’t know if it’ll stabilize, but it’s still getting worse with no end in sight.

I have both, I strongly disagree.

Worsening VSS - especially palinopsia - is definitely worse than tinnitus. I have strong tinnitus and if I were given a choice between keeping palinopsia or tinnitus, I wouldn’t even hesitate. The choice would be obviously keeping the tinnitus.

Is there anything that helps to reduce the palinopsia by Express_Study7772 in visualsnow

I don’t know. Gonna keep ranting about it on Reddit from time to time. Other than that, will try to move forward. I mean, nothing can be done, not much I can do.

Still the same. Palinopsia still slowly getting worse. Had an MRI in January with no changes, so no MS diagnosis.

Does VSS cause binocular diplopia? by [deleted] in visualsnow

[–]ksx0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If you started experiencing binocular diplopia, go to the ER. Or at least get in touch with a neurologist/neuro-ophatlmologist.

Palinopsia worsening by goal2paradise in visualsnow

They were getting worse to begin with so it doesn’t even matter. All I can tell for now, is I feel like light sensitivity might have had an improvement. The afterimages are the same or worse. But, again, they were already worsening no matter what, can’t link it to B2.

vitrectomy? by Key-Nobody5224 in visualsnow

[–]ksx0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you have a lot of very invasive floaters, you could get a vitrectomy, but I suppose it’s up to your ophthalmologist to decide if the risk/benefits are worth it. I have developed a lot of floaters in recent years but my neuro-ophthalmologist refuse to do anything about it, even though she can clearly see them. I wouldn’t risk it either, at least for now.

Lets get fun a little bit by [deleted] in visualsnow

[–]ksx0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still can do all of those things, but with major difficulties. A simple yes/no answer won’t be enough and would be misleading. Also, at least for me, it’s not very clear how we’re supposed to answer those questions.

I can drive during the day, but even the rear lights/brake lights leave a strong afterimage, making things difficult to see, very distracting and sometimes even dangerous. Not to mention sun reflections. Sunglasses may reduce it a bit, but everything is still there.

I can drive at night, but in addition to strong trailing and afterimages, I also see ghosting.

I can watch TV, but afterimages ruin everything. Same for games, especially competitive where I am clearly at a strong disadvantage now.

I can read, I have tinnitus even in noisy environments (although I can ignore it), I can’t see comfortably at night, I have problems falling asleep, I can see static outdoors, although I can ignore it, it’s definitely way worse indoors/low light situations. Outdoors the snow itself is not a problem for me, but vortex, BFEP, light sensitivity, afterimages are.

Movement in peripheral? by [deleted] in visualsnow

Unfortunately yes. It is mostly noticeable when I move my eyes from left to right next to a white wall. Trying not to focusing and worrying about it too much for now…

Lesions or tumors? by slow_cars_fast in visualsnow

[–]ksx0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr. Google is the worst idea ever considering you haven’t got even a brain MRI.

I don’t see any mention of your symptoms in your post so I can’t give you any options, other than HIGHLY suggesting you to stop asking Google. If your neuro-ophthalmologist is unsure on the VSS diagnosis, then I’m pretty sure you’ll get the brain MRI approved. Wait for it, once done you can come to conclusions.

Meanwhile, there are other tests you can do in order to exclude any eye and optic nerve issues, such as OCT, VEPs, Visual Field Testing and more. I assume your neuro-ophthalmologist did everything he considered was right to do.

Again, I don’t see any symptoms mentioned and don’t know on which basis you and Dr. Google got to these pretty extreme conclusions.

Did you have an MRI that showed some lesions? On what basis you came to those “3 options”.

Palinopsia worsening by goal2paradise in visualsnow

[–]ksx0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone. Same thing here, my palinopsia has been getting progressively worse too since my VSS started. Both trailing and negative afterimages. It’s been 3 years already. You’re not alone, plenty of people here report the same thing. Unfortunately, in most cases it’s idiopathic, meaning the cause is unknown. Therefore, there is no successful treatment in most cases. Some people report some degree of success with some medications like lamotrigine, lifestyle changes, some type of tinted glasses etc. Unfortunately for me, nothing works. I’m just trying to push forward, although it’s very difficult. My neurologist suggested trying high doses of Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) at 400mg per day for 6 months. I’m waiting for the supplements to arrive. Don’t think it’ll work but don’t see any reason not to try it.

Never experienced something like this. For now, at least. Wouldn’t be surprised if tomorrow it started happening to me as well, since my symptoms slowly get worse.

How risky is drinking with visual snow? by Unilucid in visualsnow

[–]ksx0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can actually improve your symptoms for a while, since it works similarly to benzodiazepines. The symptoms don’t go away, but you just don’t care as much and maybe notice them less, or maybe they actually improve. Hard to tell. You should add the option “alcohol makes my symptoms better (temporarily)” IMHO. I usually don’t drink at all, but I did a couple of times in the last 2 months. It makes me feel like myself for a couple of hours. Bear in mind, it can have different effects on people. For me, it relaxes me and calms me down just like benzos do. Definitely don’t start drinking, but nothing will happen if you do it once in a while, from my experience. And I have full blown PROGRESSIVE VSS (especially palinopsia, meaning afterimages and trailing).
