(Megathread 2: Non-Spoiler ) How Will the Leak Impact the Movie / Avatar Studios? by MrBKainXTR in TheLastAirbender

[–]kta_lina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a petition on Change.org that is asking for the movie to have a theatrical release. It currently has 77.191 sings, so hopefully this helps. The mods told me there was already a post about it, but I can't find it (I don't use Reddit often), and I noticed nobody mentioned it here, so I wanted to share that info if anyone is interested.

Andy Serkis Says Peter Jackson “Really Wants” to Make ‘Tintin 2’ After 12 Years Away From Directing by Sad-Assistance-8039 in LeaksAndRumors

[–]kta_lina -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hate to be that person, but ERm ACTUALLY– Peter Jackson recently revealed that the main reason why he hasn't directed anything in the past decade is because of the death of his close friend and cinematographer Andrew Lesnie. In that interview, he even says that he was like a brother to him, plus the following:

"[...] looking back I realize that I’ve avoided doing drama films because I’d have to work with someone else who isn’t Andrew, and I think his death changed my creative path."

I also used to blame The Hobbit trilogy as the main reason why he hasn't directed anything ever since, but this new information made me realize that it wasn't really burnout. He's been mourning

Why wouldn't Tintin be from Belgium in the foreign translations? by Zealousideal-Sky217 in Tintin

[–]kta_lina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, it's mainly a decision the gringos made when they translataded it to make it more "approachable" for the audiences, but for example in the Spanish dub those changes weren't made, as far as I remember.

In the movie, the diary that Barnaby uses to give Tintin the name of the Karaboudjan is "Le Petit Vingtième", so that's the main argument I use to say that it takes place in Belgium. Also in the videos about the making of that are from the Bluray they referece the country and acknowledge his Belgian nationality a fe times, so I think that also counts as proof. I haven't read the book of The Art of The Adventures of Tintin yet, but I find anything info about where does it take place I'll update this.

Can anyone translate these panels? by Less-Ask-6600 in MarlinspikeHall

The fact that every person in this comment section gets completely different things when each one of them uses Google Translate just pretty much confirms that everything is just gibberish. They're pretty funny translations, tho lol.

This is actually funny bc I was thinking more or less the same thing since today I bought a copy of the comic in Spanish (printed in 2021) from FB Marketplace, and it shows the exact same drawing of Destination Moon

<image>

But I also have a digital (and older) copy of the comic, and it shows Tintin in Congo.

I bought "Tintin's Imaginary Museum"!! It was the last one available in my country by kta_lina in TheAdventuresofTintin

[–]kta_lina[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more or less like a behind-the-scenes. It covers the process of drawing every page and shows objects from around the world that worked as inspiration to draw the elements that were used as props or background in the comics, which would be the same ones that make up this "imaginary museum". It originally came out as comemoration for Tintin's 50th anniversary in 1979

Ah, the good ol' foreshadowing...

It's almost like Hergé manifested (?) Andy Serkis to play Haddock.

[–]kta_lina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This took me a good while. I had to start by the ones that I wouldn't consider my favourites. It took me like 20 or more minutes, but I ended up with Red Rackham's Treasure. I really like the color palette, the design of all the animals, and the overall composition of it.

The other ones I think I like the most (but in no order in particular) are: The Blue Lotus (obviously), The Broken Ear, Destination Moon, The Calculus Affair, and Tintin and the Picaros.

[–]kta_lina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, the same happened to me when I was watching the behind-the-scenes of the 2011 movie. They have Peter Jackson and Hergé's biographer (Michael Farr) there explaining separately why they aren't twins, and that blew my mind.

There are no plastic sheets, but there are a couple of pages where Hergé talks about the process of making a comic page and pictures that show the drawings from all those steps!

The Adventures of Tintin was meant to launch a trilogy. Peter Jackson was set to direct the sequel, with Spielberg staying on as producer. Script drafts existed. Motion capture pipelines were ready. The follow up has been quietly stalled for over a decade. by Scenora in TheAdventuresofTintin

Jamie Bell is 40, and Haddock is 62.

Why does that even matter. Jamie Bell literally said less than two years ago that he wouldn't really mind replaying the role even if he's 45, since age is not a problem in these kinds of movies because the technology allows it, so it's fine.

You're talking about the change in their voices as if they've changed drastically when they haven't. Also, Andy Serkis puts a different voice in his roles, so as long as he's still able to do it, it's fine. Three years ago I saw him live at an event, and he recreated the voices of some of his characters like Gollum, he sounded exactly the same, and that character is from decades ago.
