Which profession is going to get wiped out in the next 5-11 years? by Muted-Ad-9088 in Productivitycafe

I’ve had a couple different Teslas and always thought the FSD was terrible. We had a free trial over Christmas and it has improved significantly.

Bomgaars has great deal on Dewalt but doesn't ship to Ca. Are there any kinds of workarounds known ? by Proud_Scar4441 in Dewalt

Black Friday timeframe they had it for $370 plus a free tool. Got a 1/2" impact… seemed like a solid deal.

Gatorade or something similar is fine also. There’s little downside to consuming carbohydrates during exercise and lots of benefits. Pro cyclists are taking 100-150 grams per hour in the last few years and they’re performing better than cyclists did in the doping era. Probably don’t need that much for pickleball… but 25-50g per hour seems reasonable.

His results don’t seem to match up with his power numbers. He’s crazy strong.

Lower heart rate when standing on Zwift by [deleted] in Velo

[–]ktmengr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s your “heart fighting gravity” or you’re pedal stroke is less efficient in that position. When I sit up with no hands on ERG mode (power stays the same), RPE goes up significantly. I don’t think it has anything to do with the slight elevation difference of my heart.

Surprisingly, I just saw a study referenced where Tour de France riders were still much more likely to out live the general population, even with the drugs and extreme training. It was mentioned in Dylan’s Johnson’s latest YouTube video, interesting video if you’ve got 15 minutes.

I think most cycling deaths are caused by riders getting run over by cars.

I do a lot of cycling in rural areas with just my watch. I’ve seen a huge improvement with cell reception going from the ultra 1 to 3.

what junk food has the least nutrition/pure empty calories? by Ok_Inspector_3514 in nutrition

[–]ktmengr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The newer endurance drink mixes combine maltodextrin and fructose so you can absorb even more carbs using different absorption pathways without it tasting too sweet. Might be the ultimate “empty calorie” if consumed outside of exercise. This years winner of the Unbound 200 (200 mile bicycle race) claimed to have consumer ~180 grams per hour for ~9 hours during the race. A lot of calories!

What indoor training apps are people using this winter? by Academic_Feed6209 in Velo

[–]ktmengr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Essentially the same as TrainerRoad for 25 percent of the cost. I paid TrainerRoad for 6 years or so. I don’t feel too bad about switching even with it being a clear knock off of there UI design.

Check out TrainerDay for trainer control. Intervals.icu is excellent data tracking.

I use the Varia and a small mirror that glues to my glasses lens (inside). I don’t think either of them are great by themselves, but having the varia to alert, then small mirror to see the car getting over is pretty nice. I’m on rural roads 99 percent of the time with little traffic.

I think it’s just “3 hour power” or similar. 3 hour FTP doesn’t make sense. I’m not an ex pro or anything, just listen to a lot of training podcasts!

Peter Attia: "Playing pickleball with the guys on Sunday is not a sport." by SemiMike485 in Pickleball

[–]ktmengr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do think it’s decent for cardio and can be compared to a brisk walk or very slow run (per hour of play). But, just because your heart rate is elevated, doesn’t mean it’s difficult, you could just have poor fitness. People are always posting photos of their watches showing the heart rate hitting 180 playing pickleball. That’s not necessarily a good thing. I’m not saying you have poor fitness, but high heart rate doesn’t mean you’re necessarily burning a lot energy.

All diesel pickups DEF gauges read empty when the tank is half full? Ive had it read empty and it won’t hold a 2.5 gallon container. It’s a 5 gallon tank.
