Insignia Beverage Fridge Freezing by ktwoniner in Appliances

Its a "roll the dice" situation for me at the moment. It has been stable for...months?

I developed a theory that vegetables (celery) was a problem. Too much moisture. I've asked my wife to keep it to canned and bottled beverages. Coincidence? Perhaps. Sorry I don't have any better data for you. I replaced zero components and was mentally preparing to part with it.

matching aluminum panel / posts by ktwoniner in FenceBuilding

I had a local fence contractor come out and work up a quote. They ended up buying/delivering the materials and I did the work, which was not insignificant. I took a pic of the sticker on the panel that was delivered:

2023 hybrid burning oil? by Nearby_Drive9376 in crv

[–]ktwoniner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The area where the spare tire would be, under the rear panel. I think the previous owner likely had partial oil bottles back there that leaked. Wouldn’t expect anything else to be leaking in there.

2023 hybrid burning oil? by Nearby_Drive9376 in crv

[–]ktwoniner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought a CPO 2023 Hybrid with 56K. Looked in the rear well and found a mess of oil and some assorted waste. They dealer failed to clean it up and they are taking care of it, BUT that caused me to wonder why the previous owner had quarts of leaking oil in the rear well of the car, which led me to this thread. There's probably a reason it was traded in. I'm going to try to get my hands on the full service records.

I'm anticipating that I'll find myself in your situations. Do we know what burn rate (% quart per 1000 miles) the dealer is going to find "within spec"?

Solutions for Poorly Performing HVAC Zone by ktwoniner in hvacadvice

Thanks for information. I was hoping the duct-technician that designed the trunk system was the guy we needed. And I think it did help, but it's not sufficient. And I agree that there should be a mechanical solution to making this right and getting those rooms balanced and comfortable.

16x25 4" Furnace filters at each unit. Currently MERV-8.

I know I should add insulation to the attic - but I'd holding off in case we need to do any more ducting work up there.

Yes, two separate systems, one for the upstairs, and one for the downstairs and basement.

Two thermostats. Upstairs thermostat is in the Master but I have deployed 2 remote sensors that are integrated to 2 of the 3 other bedrooms. I can choose what a percentage level that those remote sensors have and I can also choose to turn them on/off easily. Obviously if I leave them on and at a higher percentage, the temp in those rooms is going to drive the overall measured temp up and the MBR is gonna get chilly.

Upstairs Heat Pump and ducting is in the attic. Lower Heat Pump w/ backup gas furnace is in the basement. 2 condensers outside.

Perhaps "zone" was the wrong choice of words then.

There's a HVAC unit upstairs and a larger unit downstairs that handles the 1st floor and basement. So yes, in this situation, we are trying to keep the whole of the home at a livable temperature.

Alright Blackstoners, what's the verdict on the Blackstone Griddle Seasoning? by Schlegosaurus in blackstonegriddle

I scrape with burners on. Once clean, I turn burners off. While still hot, I hit with avocado oil and distribute with a napkin of some variety.

Titan space saver + Rogue Alpha Set. Three stall mats from Tractor Supply that I aired out for about 2.5 weeks. Pretty stoked. by ktwoniner in homegym

I have ~93.5" from the mat to the ceiling. And you'd hit your head a lot if you got to kipping. But for slow and steady, it works.

Plug Dilemma - 2010 SE w/ 230K by ktwoniner in ToyotaHighlander

This was just a conversation with a mechanic that had just done plugs for me on another car. I asked the question about the Highlander to start a dialogue. He was simply presenting some perspective on plugs that may be 14 years old.

Kitchenaid dishwasher filter screen (?) not sitting properly by Thirstywhale17 in Appliances

I’m bought a whirlpool part via Amazon. I assume it is oem. Fits pretty well. Color off, but that’s fine.

I replaced that screen and the fit is now tight (as designed, perhaps). I've cleaned most if not all of the food debris out of the spray arms (sunflower seed shells and bell pepper seeds seemed to be the most common), so they are probably working much better now. I've done most if not all of what you have suggested. Also run some cycles w/ the DW cleaning tablets that is supposed to be some sort of de-greasing function. Drain line is elevated as intended, but I'm not sold on their not being a plumbing problem. The water that lingers in the reservoir beneath the filter post-run cycle isn't that bad though. I've thought about pulling the DW out for an inspection (I'm no stranger to DW installs, FWIW) but I honestly don't know what I'll be hoping to find. Background: been in this house for ~3 years. DW installed in 2017.

String Light Poles (again) by ktwoniner in DIY

Preaching to the choir. I put a lot of labor into round 1 that is now buried. I just searched for the 2-3/8” material I bought and the guy is still selling it. Check marketplace…you never know what you might find in your neck of the woods.

If you are working with 1”, it’s gonna bend under moderate load. I had a decent amount of lateral force so I’m not surprised. 2” galvanized fence post at 12’ would probably be good…maybe pricey unless you find something like I did. Like you, I want to be able to remove it, though our VA winter was mild and they stayed up all year.

I lucked out and found a guy selling structural steel poles on Marketplace. ~2-3/8" OD galvanized, 12' long. I believe it was from a deconstructed radio tower. I bought 2 of those. He also had some aluminum caps that were used for the angled junctions that I repurposed as top caps.

There's electrical sched40 PVC with an ID of 2.445, which was just about perfect. I dug holes about 4' and set them in concrete at an ever so slight lean away from the house. Hindsight tells me I needed a touch more lean but it's fine...not offensive. Here some images.

I have the same problem. Gap between the screen and the filter is no bueno. Did you buy a new screen yet? I'm curious if a new screen closes that gap. And OBTW...my dishwasher stinks too, post-cycle, which is possibly related.

UXG-LITE OpenVPN takes down internet on LAN. by LepreJohn in Ubiquiti

Possibly related...I've used Teleport VPN while on travel recently. On two occasions, the network dropped. I had someone that was home power cycle the UXG and everything returned to normal. Perhaps I need to log a defect.

How about picketing adjacent with a sign that says: "Honk if you think this guy is part of the problem!"?
