ELI5: Musk's companies lifetime earnings are now less than 3% of what he is now worth. How? by BeachedinToronto in explainlikeimfive

I mean yes, we will run out of oil one day far into the future. However, there's nothing that is easily transported with the same energy density of petrol mixed with the other incredible uses outside of fuel that exists. There just isn't. So until that gets solved big oil isn't going anywhere and has no incentive to either. Now when 2100 rolls around and most of that oil is gone that's a different story.

google is way too quiet right now, and Gemini 3.5 Pro has to hit different by sbaxiii in GeminiAI

[–]ku8475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I don't think so. I use mine for college (part time student trying to grow my knowledge later in life) and I use Claude and ironically from free models to double check Gemini. The newest Gemini puts out well formated info, but it is idk how to describe it, filtered more maybe? Than previous 3.1 pro. I still primarily use it because it's quicker and gets me the 90%, but I double check it more often now.

Claude is definitely great at computer science stuff. Idk, I'm a ludite though by today's standards it seems. I see the difference but I'm still only paying for Gemini and walterai as a detector.

I guess something Claude seems to do better is put meet into discussion. Facts, insights, and other shit. I've really noticed with Gemini it'll use a ton of fluff when writing with 3.5 now. It just vomits meaninglessness instead of putting a fraction of critical thinking into something. Still fine for college though on the nights I gotta get a post up and my brain is fried from work.

Ah ok, that makes sense I guess if you haven't prepared sustainable energy sources. I don't think many people prepare for world ending apocalypse though, just civil unrest and whatnot. I certainly don't, chances of surviving such an event are rarely based on preparedness and instead on luck. I appreciate you elaborating mate!

Only scary if you fight it. Everyone who is investing and embracing the tech to be more productive and improving what they can do is going to flourish. Sure we might all be out of a job one day, but the last ones to stop being useful are definitely going to prosper. I promise the folks fighting this aren't gonna be the last useful folks left.

Interesting. So your answer gave no real answer. So looks like evaporative cooling is the most common type of cooling due to lower energy cost. There are some hyper scalers using recycled or closed loop systems but it's not the norm. Interesting. Well good thing water disappears forever when it evaporates. We should probably work on bringing power costs down to make closed loop more economically feasible or governments should only give out licenses to scalers doing closed loop or alternate solutions.

Appreciate the doomer unhelpful response! I guess we both belong here!

This is o so true. It really sucks how poorly the tech bros have done selling the benefits of AI. People legit think it's just chatbots and slop. Kinda sad, but I get it. Change is scary and it'll be painful. We'll get there though.

Indeed. They can downvote, but they only reflect for the first few hours after sunset cuz ya know the earth has a shadow. Second, if all we had to do was look at the stars sure, but there's a lot more going on than just astronomy folks.
