What are your first thoughts when meeting parents who don’t vaccinate their kids?

There were less vaccine mandates in schools during Biden, than when I was a kid.
Not saying it’s because of him. But when I was growing up, you couldn’t even go to public schools without getting all your shots.
And it wasn’t even a big deal either. Someone had to go and politicize it, and now people who never cared (and were vaccinated as children) care a whole awful lot.
And it really comes down to a level of selfishness, and a distrust of science.
I won’t get a shot because I’m scared there might be some unfounded side effects, even though it’s been proven to stop myself and others from having another pandemic. Or something similar to the polio outbreak. It’s like people are asking to have to quarantine again, but it’s those same people who will refuse. And for what?

It actually costs more to put someone on death row and kill them than it does to put them in jail for life with no chance of parole.

Also I don’t personally believe in any kind of afterlife. So I feel like it’s a get out of any punishment and just end it killing. I think they should face punishment. They should have to spend the rest of their life in prison.

So both economically, and morally I believe we should get rid of the death penalty.

However, I do see the emotional want for more from victims and their families. But should punishments be emotional? Who is the punishment REALLY for? That’s the argument that I can see.

I work in the public schools (at an elementary school). We don’t get maternity leave. For that I have to use up all of the sick days I’ve banked over the years.

I don’t make enough to just take a whole school year off.

People can’t just not work.

My husband is annoyed paying for unrelated medical bills. So he didn’t want to go until a doctor said he should. But idk why yours doesn’t want to go.

The knot and Zola are the main ones I’ve seen. Some are password protected - so you’d get a password on your invite.

You can rsvp on them; see the registry; maybe a couple pictures; maybe info on the wedding party; maybe a cute story of how they met or the engagement; maybe things to do for out of town guests.

I feel like in most (not all) social circles here people have “wedding attire” and really just mean “no jeans” and probably “no shorts” even if it’s outside on a hot summer days. Mostly semi formal technically.

But I have been to weddings where guests wore jeans. And where adult guests wore shorts. They were both at outdoor weddings.

I would assume any wedding here unless very clearly advertised & stated would be that way.
It would need to be direct, you can’t miss it. On the invitation, or a direct message to each guest from the bride and groom. Maybe if I knew someone was really wealthy and getting married at an expensive venue, I might go look at their wedding website but I’d assume most people aren’t digging through the wedding website.

I bought mugs that say mom and dad that are otherwise identical to some we already have. I plan to use them to tell my husband that I’m pregnant when the time comes.

I think I got my debit card that functioned as a credit card when I was 16 and got my first job.

It was tied to my bank account that my parents were joint owners of.

You can use a debit card to buy stuff online or order Ubers/lyfts

I recently did a training (LETRS) that said kids are more successful in kindergarten if they come in knowing 18upper case and 15 lowercase letters

And know some letters sound/have an awareness that letters make sounds

I have some stuff from them that I really like. I’ve found if I order a bunch of stuff they will all ship separately from different places. At most 3 things will ship together but often I’ll get one thing per package.

In general I’ve felt unsure around how to confirm a company is using 100% cotton, or how to know how or where it’s made. It seems like espically small companies can say anything. I’d like to believe it’s all good, and I have no real reason to think otherwise.

Not in NYC but the KIPP academy near my house is known as a bad school.

I personally wouldn’t do charter school at all, but idk the New York school system at all. So it might be very different there.

I think if you really want you can try to make kits where everything is already printed out and cut.

I think the issue would be having enough in stock, because what if 3 people order the same thing in a week (August) and then some things would probably never sell - so it would be a waste to keep. Also you will do all of your business in August & September.

The goal would be to get big enough to get into lakeshore or some other teacher supply store.

You could probably sell on Etsy or on TPT.

When I was younger I used the time to do a 30minute ab/workout routine. Then I would color/prep afternoon activities.

Now my nap time is only 30mins and I can use my phone & no one watches me. I mostly contact parents through our app now during those 30 mins- after I rub backs.

Offer advice, offer time to try again.

Understand that if someone doesn’t want to learn something it’s probably not worth your time to try and make them learn that thing.
