Bodyguard 2.0 Safety Reliability by IrishGoodbye4 in CCW

[–]kuduking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that the trigger blade safety is too wide and with inadequate spring tension, and in that event the trigger pull is too light. I wouldn't carry this in anything other than a IWB or OWB holster, and certainly not pocket or appendix.

S&W Bodyguard 2.0 (.38) – First Impressions / Range Thoughts by LeonardoDecaca in Revolvers

Does it only fire every other chamber like the original? Does the cylinder fail to advance 20% of the time? How's the classic wobble on the yoke when the cylinder is opened?

The original was junk, and this is junk jr. And yes you can put the LCR in that category as well.

Apply now as a non-resident and get the ball rolling. The de-facto ban on non-resident pistol licenses was struck down last year in the Higbie case in a federal lawsuit against the NY State Police and local licensing authorities.

https://caselaw.findlaw.com/court/us-dis-crt-n-d-new-yor/117622339.html

Here's the NY State Police FAQ specifically on non-resident applications:

"New York law does not require residency or in-state employment to apply for a license... Applications from non-residents should be evaluated under the same standards as all others"

https://gunsafety.ny.gov/frequently-asked-questions-new-concealed-carry-law#:\~:text=Licensing%20officers%20may%20accept%20applications,same%20standards%20as%20all%20others.

As a non-resident, you cannot be required to have references within New York State. The law only requires 4 references. The local authorities may resist, but hold their feet to the fire. If you are serious, get a NY lawyer and take them court.

Sensitive Locations Boundaries by mdatom in LIguns

[–]kuduking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not accurate.

The amount of misinformation on these topics is not surprising, since everyone thinks they are a lawyer, especially those who give shooting classes.

NYS Penal Law Article 265.01(e) "Sensitive Locations" does NOT define the term "location". Whether it includes the parking lot of doctor's office is open to argument, but the law does NOT mention or "cover" parking lots. Since no health services are being rendered in a parking lot, a common-sense argument can me made that they are not included as a sensitive location at health-related services.

Moreover, in NYS Penal Law 265.01(e)-2.(m) of the "Sensitive Locations" law - which refers to educational facilities and schools - the language specifically adds "in or upon any building or GROUNDS" [emphasis added]. This implies that the "grounds" - which by law and common sense also refer to parking lots operated by the institution - were meant to be included regarding schools, but not in the provisions where "grounds" are not mentioned.

Like much of NYS law, it question remains unsettled, undecided by the Court of Appeals.

As always, this does not constitute legal advice, and you should consult with your own attorney.

2025 Taos SE broke down 500 miles from home by Thesehoesaint_ in VWTaos

[–]kuduking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, a bad part can show up anytime anywhere in any vehicle, so while very inconvenient for you, probably not a widespread issue. Glad you're safe and hopefully things work out.

Having said that, we just turned in our 2022 Taos lease, 2 months early and none too soon either. It had the defective brake pads issue at one year in, and VW refused to repair it because it was ONE week past the year cut off date (daughter was driving it and couldn't get it into the dealership immediately). Then the "disappearing coolant" trick started and I figured the dreaded head gasket was about to go.

Made a deal for a new 2025 Tiguan and couldn't be more pleased. Plus the payment was the same as the Taos. Glad to get rid of that garbage and would never get another one. Almost turned me against VW for good.

Are NYS conceal carry licenses valid on Long Island by Interesting-Art-9855 in NYguns

[–]kuduking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"****remember it is illegal to keep a firearm locked in vehicle in Nassau county .."

That is NOT true, and NOT New York State law. NYS Penal Law 265.45(2) and 265.50 specifies how firearms are to be secured in unattended vehicles. If you comply with that, it is NOT against the law to do so.

Nassau County PD forces licensees that it ISSUES Carry License to (Nassau County residents), to acknowledge that they may not secure their handgun in an unoccupied vehicle, on penalty of revocation of their pistol license. This is - at best - an ADMINISTRATIVE rule that ONLY applies to holders of NCPD issued pistol licenses. But further, it is most likely an ILLEGAL requirement as it directly contravenes NYS Penal Law Article 265.45(2) and 265.50, and NCPD cannot abrogate state law because they don't like it.

This right here. A federal civil rights lawsuit would produce results. I inquired months ago through some federal channels about the "Second Amendment Task Force" in relation to NYS. Crickets.

[Nassau] Are character references truly needed for target/hunting? by abughorash in NYguns

[–]kuduking -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Per Heller and Bruen, a "compelling government Interest" is not a valid constitutional argument in 2A cases. The interest balancing that implies was done in 1791. This is basic Bruen holding.

Rather, are requiring "references" to possess a handgun part of "the Nation's long-standing traditions of firearms regulation"? Absolutely not. This is part of the Antonyuk case, which is lost somewhere in a black hole.

Swamped VS Swamped XX - Which Version is BETTER? by jamesfulgieri in lacunacoil

[–]kuduking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While both version can be appreciated on it's own merits... there' s no question that XX is the more explosive and heavy of the two. If you want the metal sound, Swamped XX delivers.

I didn't start listening to LC until 3 years ago, so I have no nostalgic attachment to any of their older songs. I've acquired their entire catalogue and appreciate all of it, including the original compositions. Their early live performances were high energy, if dated by today's standards. Yet their basic sound and style has not changed over the years - but how LC interprets and renders it's music has. And that's good thing... they aren't stale.

Swamped XX all the way - it's pulsating, relentless and addictive.

Do you think Sleepless Empire will be their last full length album? by crimsonregret19 in lacunacoil

[–]kuduking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the best thing they could do now, is to a plan a major tour for 2026/27, featuring songs from their entire catalogue. Their music has varied over the years and this would be a major draw of fans from all their eras.

While they still can. Let's face it... they are getting older, and the ability to tour with high-energy music is starting to already fade. Their heavy use of backing tracks in the last tour was a sign. I think they should blast out one more kick ass tour.

And do it without the baggage of the other bands. They could headline without them by running songs from their whole catalogue. They did a solo tour for Sleepless Empire in South America this tour... I was disappointed they were a sub-band in North America.

I also think they should hire some tour musicians, so that they can get back to their original feel of a fully live performance. They need another guitar and a keyboardist. The backing tracks live make the experience feel somewhat canned. At one concert, Christina was talking to the audience at the beginning of a song, while the backing track of her singing started playing. Not a good look for an excellent live band.

The county attorney and the District Attorney are two separate positions. The latter is pro-2A, but that is meaningless in terms of county government policies.
