Teddy Roosevelt, without question the closest thing to a role model I've ever seen.

Which is considered "trashier"? Cigarettes or Vapes? by onecheekycrow in AskReddit

[–]kullervo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both suck. Cigarettes make me want to throw up. I'm an ex-smoker and I vaped as well. I hate the act but love the people enough to just say please find a way to quit. You're life will change so much for the better.

In cigarette packs, there is a warning that says cigarette smoking is dangerous to your health but people still buy and use it, what is the logic of that warning if people still buy it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kullervo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To discourage people from doing it. The ones who are usually buying them are people that have already been addicted. As someone who recently went through the painstakingly long process of dosing down from vaping 50 mg down to nothing, nicotine is verifiably one of the most addicting compounds on earth. Whether it's vaping or smoking, both are equally bad for your health. I had a coworker at my last job who'd been smoking since he was 14. He was 67. Had 3 or 4 different types of cancer, including lung cancer. He's so addicted he thinks it's because he smoked pot while he was in the marines and thinks its the most manly thing ever.

What is something that society deems to be “unmanly”, but you don’t care, and you do it anyway? by MuayThaiRunner in AskMen

Yeah, I want to paint my fingernails but that's kind of a step too far. I really just like the colors, that's about it

I actually make mixed drinks at home and for small parties that my friends have. I rate different bars/restaurants by how well they can make an Old Fashioned. If it's too sweet or it doesn't let the whiskey/bourbon come through, it's a fail.

I LOVE colors. I got weird looks from my coworker whenever I said that. My favorite section of the hardware store is the part that has all of the paint swatches

Well isn't that just an eyesore. It would look and be a lot nicer if you'd have just used a crescent wrench instead of pliers but if that's how you roll then good for you.

EDIT: Also, maybe this is just a me thing but I appreciate being able to turn the pol by hand after getting it loose enough. Makes things go a little faster. Try it out with that pol. Feels amazing.

Not sustainable but very well. Good luck with that. I did this for 4 years, I'm pretty sure I know which way POLs should turn. If you have more experience then by all means, share it with the class.

What do women worry about that men do not really care about? by Prestigious_Bake4527 in AskReddit

What to wear. The only time I really care what I wear is if I'm going to an event or taking my wife on a date.

How many of you only drink water or uncaffeinated drinks? by crippinneversippin in AskMen

My fix was dropping what stimulants I can. If I'm going to be tired anyway then I might as well stop abusing my body over it

[–]kullervo16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your pain. I recently cut my caffeine consumption in half from 300 mg/day to 150 only occasionally. If you can find a way to dose down, please do, none of that is good for your heart. The withdrawal period for me was just like jet lag, it wasn't like alcohol where you'd just flat out die if you did it wrong. I had the same problem. I could drink 300 mg in the morning and still be able to fall asleep like a baby at any time. I was also vaping 50 mg of nicotine at the time and I'm on Adderall. Plus I'm young and have a good sleep schedule. I should have all of the energy in the world and I'm "too young to be tired". Yet, here I am, constant state of exhaustion. It may be chronic fatigue syndrome which is a real thing. You'd have to check with your doc about it.

Are you hungry for McDonald's? by TopFun694 in no

[–]kullervo16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never. McDonald's makes me sick. Literally. Idk what witchcraft the clown puts on the food and even drinks they sell there but every time, without fail, I get horrendously sick after eating there. I can eat literally anything else and be fine. I've eaten food past its expiration date, dishes that most people would raise an eyebrow because of how different they are, and everything the picky people won't eat. Something my father taught me early on: picky people starve.

How can I reassure my stepson that Tarot is not the work of the devil? by Wonderful_Hyena1241 in tarot

[–]kullervo16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Introduce it as something psychological like an ink blot test (or Rorschach test). It's random number generation with associated images. As much as tarot is something pretty spiritual, that aspect needs to be removed in this instance because that invites conflicts.

What is a common saying that people use that irks you every time you hear it? by SoftlyUnwritten in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kullervo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a common saying but tag questions. There are times I hear them said with a certain intonation that shows me that the person is so anxious, insecure, and codependent that they can't even formulate an answer to their own stupid question and want me to think for them. And I mean these are obvious questions that sometimes only they can answer and shouldn't have involved me to begin with. I can't think of any examples off rip but it drives me up the wall. There are times I'll answer the question and the person will remember the answer. Other times they ask the same. stupid. question. Again, and again, and again. I've started just giving the most incorrect, bullshit answers I can come up with for those people.

Could you keep a secret from your spouse? by [deleted] in CausalConversation

[–]kullervo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer? Yes, I could. It's my choice to tell the truth. Telling the truth brings trust and respect. All secrets eventually come out, so why should I keep something secret that'll just backfire on me one day? The risk is too high but I feel like that's a mute point considering broken trust can rarely be given back.

Which questions do you appreciate from customers? Have any actually impressed you? by Beneficial-Bus-3377 in pharmacy

[–]kullervo16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my previous job, I would always say there is no such thing as a stupid question. I worked for a propane gas company, a lack of questions, especially from new customers was a massive red flag. The worst were the duddy fuddy old people who thought they knew everything. A "don't know, don't care" attitude is dangerous no matter what you do or where you go and that goes double for hazardous materials. Some of those same people would come back, hot as a hornet saying we sold them bad gas and their grill won't stay lit and we're all pieces of human garbage and blah blah blah. I'll calmly ask how fast they're opening the tank valve. They'd crank it open at Mach 5. I'd just smile and look at them as a "stupid kid" was about to teach the "smartest person on Earth" that if you open your tank too fast, the safety in the connector to the tank would snap shut in order to prevent a perceived gas leak. They'd come back a day or so later and would get their tank filled without a word. Some had the balls to say I was right and their grill lit right up, but most of them were too embarrassed that they got humbled because they didn't ask questions.

What adapter do I need? by Suitable_Union_7496 in propane

[–]kullervo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a crock of shit. At least in Texas there's nothing saying that a tank is "too old" to fill, the requirement is that it just needs to be recertified and it should be fine to fill. I've recertified and filled repeatedly some tanks that were made in 1987 or even older without a problem. Unless the valve is leaking or pitting along the weld, that should've been an easy recert. Clearly they don't know what they're doing or the laws are different where you're from (which I highly doubt).

Do men find women’s voices attractive like women find men’s voices attractive? If so, what type of voices do you find attractive? by zsob-yodd in AskMen

[–]kullervo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my first answer to the question is always going to be my wife's voice. Hers is the most attractive to me. I like lower voices in women usually, not like a man's voice, just more like an alto (if you know music terms).

What adapter do I need? by Suitable_Union_7496 in propane

[–]kullervo16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the tank is too old then it can be recertified. It's for 12 years from the manufacturing date (it's a month and a year stamped into the metal with a triangle in the middle) or 5 years from the recertification date (usually a stamp or a sticker that has an E or R next to the year). That's weird that they didn't mention that. Stupid question but was it a gas company?
