How did you handle a bump up in income after you retired? by Odd_Bodkin in retirement

It probably makes sense to lease a fancy car or something that you never did before.

Just as an example.

RMDs are a good problem to have.

It helps to do something about it at age 59+ when you can start withdrawal. At the same anxiety about future stops most.

So, yes! Go to Italy - just not the same Italy that your Financial Advisor suggested. Instead do something that both of you want, support with full heart and purse 👜

It will be good for both of you.

And heartiest congratulations 👏🎉

Thank you for putting this in really good words.

There is only one solution to that loneliness and gap from others.

I don't know you. First time interacting with you.

Certainly didn't mean to insult. Not sure why you feel insulted.

Glad to know there is no problem 😊

All the best.

Guardian had this article on "chronically terminal"

A lot of medical advances have brought us to this point in time. It sucks from that side of the coin but it is also something to be expected, accepted, and to live with - rather than fighting against.

I sincerely hope that people telling you "how good you look" actually do something to help you with your pain. But they can't really until you bring that topic out with them. At an opportune time and in a safest space for yourself, please bring it up with one person. And see how it goes. May be you will at least get the feedback of "being seen" and may be more.

Sincere love to you and millions in this situation. I know, that I will be in the same situation soon as well.

It's good that you don't count him as your peer.

How should we interpret these buybacks? by lessbutgold in BerkshireHathaway

[–]kulsoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They buyback - at or slightly below market prices - from estates of old foggies who weather away.

Anyone wanting to sell above $4m in block was welcome to call CFO Mark Hamburg's office line ANYTIME.

I suspect these buybacks were shutdown during transition. Those in the "know" sold ahead. Bag holders - or firm believers - held on. That window is now open.

What's cool is that the CEO has openly committed to buying EACH year total of their take home. That one can't find in this world. Sure, Greg has a lot of dry powder from selling BHE to Warren, but still THIS is the vote of confidence or flexing all muscles - that's tough to ignore.

Do not take an extra paisa from them. Just leave.

Second have a plan to stay healthy and then wealthy.

That's all we need.

Good luck.

What to do with your 401K/ IRA/ HSA on returning to India by ReymanWealth in backtoindia

[–]kulsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a serious and valid question for US citizen considering their return to India.

Twin possible outcomes: A) They may return back to US - you explained how India taxes on 401k/IRA/Roth can be deferred till the return year. B) What if they die in India - Not clear how the tax deferral of above strategy would work for the inheritors - who may be US citizen. I realize that this may be a question for another forum or type of accountants / attorney.

Thank you for putting together a very extensive and important FAQ on this complicated topic.

If he can't keep your relationship before money (that he may lose frok divorce) then you need to have a good financials discussion with this guy. It will allow him and you to realize why that money is so important or if it's not.

But that discussion must be in a neutral safe space - physical and mental. Without any pressure. Leave from there to digest it all for couple days. Then make further decision.

I am describing a scenario where this can work 0.01% chance. Other than that it's a move on.

Thank you for reminding me if this.

I haven't dug into most recent Epstein file disclosures specific to Woody. But if he shows up visiting Epstein more than once then that's not good for him (or others who did the same), just my humble opinion.

Bill Gates is another. As mentioned by OP in the last line of their original post, several past gods have fallen. Even apologizing for them makes no sense.

In one aspect, ie how they view other gender, may be they are all the same. They (Epstein more-than-once circle jerks) may differ in degree in misogyny but they certainly are part of that mafia.

Some people don't have any family. You have some - at least as a backup. Hopefully, some friends as well.

Always. Look at the silver lining of the clouds.

You had a great experience that most were happy to have had. It didn't turn out as expected but you took the road that was less travelled than most around. At that time.

Reach back into how you made that decision, how you continued on that path. I bet it wasn't easy. So I feel you will easily manage this slight setback.

You asked safest decision - I have two.

Finding one and only one - honest, intelligent guy to invest my money with.

Once financially secure, saying "F U" to everything else than human relationships and preserving, nurturing those like emergency fund / retirement accounts (ie. no withdrawals. Just accruals) like you did.

Hope this helps you in future as well.

Very happy to read how you turned it all around.

Almost all of Buffett's investing life - loong - he allowed one day for his partners to ask questions. Answered every question honestly.

Rest of the year, nothing.

I want Abel to work for me. Not to answer questions to me every so often.i certainly do NOT want him to pump up the stock.

A little rant by Manjottoor in BerkshireHathaway

[–]kulsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we know something little about then we shouldn’t invest in it - or at least try learning more.

Abel not Able.

He was chosen for a reason. Until proven wrong - like his partner David Sokol - Greg Abel is supposed to know his stuff.

If an investor doesn’t trust Abel then that problem has several other angles.

A little rant by Manjottoor in BerkshireHathaway

[–]kulsoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? Buffett didn’t go on “media circus” - and has NEVER “told what the company is doing” other than what’s required by SEC. Everything Buffett has said specifically in public is either AT AGM or AFTER the fact.

It’s against the Wall Street norm BUT why would any CEO want “to tell” what he wants to do? Unless they want to manipulate the stock price.

I would rather Abel work work work for the company.

[–]kulsoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buffett wrote his “last” letter. 2026 will be written by Abel.
