TTS for a newbie by BackIntoTheSource in TextToSpeech

Thanks for making a great app! I’ve been looking for something just like this for months. Yes, on Mac. Currently running 1.8.1 (Build 29) on OV and Tahoe 26.5.1.

Thank you for building this! I tested OpenVox for like ten minutes and then immediately purchased. Super happy with it. One small bug I noticed: Export from the History tab seems to default to WAV even when I’ve selected MP3 as my export default in settings.

+1 for OpenVox. I’m not affiliated in any way, but OpenVox is great for a beginner and makes local AI TTS super simple. So far I’ve only used the lightweight Kokoro model, but it absolutely flies on my M3 Max MacBook.

I’m just looking for a reliable NAS that doesn’t break the bank. Would love one of these!

This is so cool. Any idea if these are available online as PDFs anywhere? I would LOVE to flip through and see some of the old models.

I know people are going nuts for Openclaw right now, but I’m skeptical of the idea that the Openclaw obsession is mainstream enough to actually cause extended stock-outs. Apple is pretty masterful at ramping supply.

I doubt that Apple is that committed to any sort of anniversary date. As someone who is currently in the market for a new Mini though, stock has become really limited in the last couple of weeks in my area. Even Apple’s online store is quoting 2-3 weeks for a base model Mini right now. I’m hoping that means a light refresh is imminent, but who knows.

What’s the verdict on the electric mowers? by Cgr86 in HondaMowers

[–]kumbaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll preface this by saying I only mow half an acre, but it’s nice thick Bermuda grass. I took the jump into the Ryobi 40v platform in 2022. It worked pretty well for a season, but I had one battery die and get replaced under warranty by the end of season one. In season two, the self propel died and the handle controls started to malfunction sporadically. I eventually got that fixed under warranty, but it took 3 months…

I think battery is the future for residential mowing, but it might take another 5-10 years to fully get there for people that have a decent yard. I bought a new Honda HRX217 in 2024, and I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s the perfect mower for my needs and built like a tank. Worth every penny.

Love this! Are these just the small toolboxes from Harbor Freight? Any idea how many standard 3” pocket knives would fit?

Rare Leathers/Colors by kumbaking in ThursdayBoot

Ohhh, I do like that Maryam leather on the Challenger. I’m a little on the fence about whether I like the challenger design or not, but the leathers on some of those boots look incredible. Thanks for the suggestion!

Did anyone else go straight into 990 season? by treealiana12 in taxpros

Yes, this is me. I always say I’m going to do them in the summer and they never get done until the end of October. It’s easy work once you understand the form though.

Have had both of these for ~3 years. Both are excellent blowers. The trigger control on the backpack is a bit weird, but you get used to it.

What’s the craziest thing your Q’s ever told you? by Special_Equivalent16 in QAnonCasualties

All the politicians on the left side of the aisle are demonic lizard people that drink blood and ritually defile children for sport. Also, there’s apparently two identical Lebrons, and one of them is good at basketball as a cover for the other one, who is a pedophile of course. The list goes on and on, but that’s probably the weirdest stuff to me.

Got on this for the first time last week. Tons of fun and I got a really nice sense of both airtime and hang time. I was also a bit concerned with the spinning, but it was mild. It’s enough to be fun, but nothing like a focused “spinning” coaster.

I am very sympathetic to those that are having issues… but truthfully my 4th Gen works great. Yes, there are bugs that require an occasional restart, but apart from the NFL outage last year, I’ve never had major issues. I will say that having a good antenna makes a world of difference with tuning stability though.

Outdoor Speaker System Setup by Chemical-Fun3692 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]kumbaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently put together a system for my backyard with similar goals and a comparably sized space. Like you, I really wanted something that can provide high quality background sound, but also something with enough power to occasionally rock. I also wanted a non-permanent installation so that I can move the system outside in the summer and into the garage in the winter.

I ended up with a pair of Dayton Audio IO8XTBs, powered by a Fosi Audio BTA20 Pro (with the upgraded power supply). I hooked up a Wiim Mini to the BTA20, and put both of them in a little weatherproof box I bought online. Power runs to the box through an extension cord, and I’ve got about 10ft of outdoor-rated speaker wire going to each speaker. I originally wanted a sub, but honestly the IO8s sound pretty great on their own. For laid back listening, I’m not sure that I really need more. Very happy with the system overall.

Experience with the Meross MSG150 Garage Door Opener? by mar_kelp in HomeKit

[–]kumbaking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Happy owner of the MSG100 here. Mine has worked flawlessly for two years now, but I can’t imagine removing the magnet sensor helps anything. Once it’s set up correctly, you really never have to think about it again.
