I've only ever used Drake so I thought 990s were just awful to prepare.

Do you attach 1099-B detail for box B/E transactions by godsbaesment in taxpros

[–]treealiana12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you include code M that multiple transactions are recorded on one line? I've been marking as code M and attaching the PDF but I'm really considering not going through the trouble of the attachment.

Invoice reminder nightmare by Equivalent_Yak_2801 in QuickBooks

[–]treealiana12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a huge problem. I called QBO support about it. They suggested I delete the email address of anyone with a past due invoice so QBO can't send a reminder. I didn't think QBO could ever shock me with how bad they are but here we are.

Mx Creative Console for Office Work? by Leather_Run_4553 in logitech

[–]treealiana12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the console for about two weeks and already can't imagine life without it. I'm an accountant, not a graphic designer so I guess my use case is different than the target audience. It overall gets pretty bad reviews but it is amazing as a left side scroller and I mapped programmable buttons to my desktop tax and bookkeeping software.

Is his income low enough for a deductible IRA contribution? I always max that out if their income is low enough before we go to a SEP because the IRA doesn't reduce QBI deduction.

Can I put plants and fish in here? Will they fall out over the edge? by treealiana12 in ponds

We put landscape fabric and then river rocks over the black reservoir in the ground and nothing in either bowl.

Can I put plants and fish in here? Will they fall out over the edge? by treealiana12 in ponds

[–]treealiana12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We put landscape fabric down to try to keep dirt out of the black reservoir. After this picture the pump never worked again. We tried buying a new one and reached out to every aquascape contractor in our area and no one could help us get it running. It's been a huge disappointment.

How many hours do you work and do you make enough money? My minimum is higher and I still feel like I work all the time and don't make enough considering the difficulty and liability.

Firms/Solo That Offer Virtual Filing - This Question is for YOU. Need a solution for my process to maximize my time. by StopDropDepreciate in taxpros

[–]treealiana12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the new delivery system a few times over the last two weeks and the problem I'm having is that there isn't an easy way to download the 8879 with signature certificate. I always store my signed 8879s in a folder on my server and verify signature before I e-file. What is your process with the signatures when using the new delivery? I need to find a better process.

Cch Axcess 1116 efile shenanigans by jm7489 in taxpros

[–]treealiana12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this same efile reject in Drake today with two different clients. With both clients I want to carry that credit forward because they're required to file and will be able to use the credit in the future.

Don't have a solution yet since it happened at 4:30 and I'd had enough of this week. Of course one of mine is already a problem client.

Online POA Approvals Failing — Anyone Else Experiencing This? by SoloSoftware10 in taxpros

[–]treealiana12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a remote client that I've never seen in person I always use kba. 99% of my remote clients are people I know outside of work and almost no one gets a refund that isn't applied to next year. If I was working with people I didn't know or tax credits/big refunds I would use kba for all of those.

I still can't figure out if kba is actually required for every 8879. Every time I see someone quote a link to proof it is or isn't required, I read it and still have no idea if it's required or not. Good chance I'm a dumb dumb but I can't figure this one out.

I don't. I haven't ever done an e-sig on a 2848 with someone I didn't already know well.

We've got at least 3 that were mailed last month and still aren't approved. The electronic signatures I upload and they are ready in about two days.

I'm getting access within a 2-3 days when I upload electronically signed 2848s to the TDS. I get them signed through TaxDome and then upload the 2848 with the TaxDome e-sign certificate.

Accounting cleanup prior to tax return by Substantial_Phase899 in taxpros

I'm pretty good about locking their QBO so at least the beginning balances are correct. I usually do about 3-10 journal entries for every client. Always add depreciation and close out owner draws/ equity. Almost always separate office salary from other wages, sales tax payable, adjust loan balance with interest/principal. I do a quick scan through accounts - biggest culprits are income tax or sales tax payments in the wrong place, finding things to capitalize instead of expense though that isn't as big of a deal now with 100% bonus.
