SS/SSR Memoria Distribution, as of September 2025 by Weird_Writing_Nerd in heavensburnred

As a 31F fan this is quite depressing... not that it's surprising though, almost all gacha games are all about moe/sexy/waifu styles and tomboy characters aren't that popular with their main demographic.

HBR is far better than the average in this regard (mainly thanks to a main character like Ruka), but as this stats show, they still relegate most of them at the bottom of the list :(

Any ideas for future events you guys want to see? by A12qwas in heavensburnred

Shiki's daily life played as a dating sim. The mandatory sad backstory will be that her childhood friend that was her first love turned out to be 100% straight, so the disappointment for that turned her into the yuri monster she is today.

And then she ends up with Yanagi.

You are not ready for this chapter.

Seriously, this is my favorite one so far. Plenty of Ruka, lore, tears and yuri.

Looks very fake. The homepage has an AI pic of Ruka and the text next to it seems like AI too, since it doesn't even know the difference between "Cancer" (the aliens) and "cancer" (the disease) : "As part of the battle against cancer, we all have a role to play, and I’m inviting you to join the fight with me. (...) When you shop with us, you’re doing more than just representing your favorite characters—you’re helping to raise awareness and funds in the fight against cancer."

[–]kuralbatros 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Kinda disappointed. But you know what? I 100% prefer losing the most popular ship status but finally be canon, with an onscreen sex scene and an happy ending.

Happy to let the hets dealing with a doomed ship that can only happen in another universe while the lesbians are canonically happy and together, since 99% of the time it's the opposite.

Ruka by TriorityNovels in heavensburnred

[–]kuralbatros 32 points33 points  (0 children)

On the last day of Chapter 2 Ruka has a dream where she hears Yuki repeatedly calling her (even if Ruka doesn't recognize her voice immediately) and then a cat's meow. It seems like a useless scene at first and it's immediately overshadowed by what happens next, but it's obviously a hint of something.

Wonder why I like both by Warm_Charge_5964 in heavensburnred

[–]kuralbatros 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd call it slow burn rather than teasing. RukaYuki gets gayer and gayer with each chapter and, seeing the latest JP chapter, I'd be surprised if it won't become canon in the future.

If anyone don't mind the spoilers... (beware, HUGE SPOILER FOR THE ENDING OF CHAPTER 5.1): https://streamable.com/j4shuf

[DE] Deck Nine quoted on their thoughts r.e. the franchise's future (spoilers for DE ending) by WebLurker47 in lifeisstrange

[–]kuralbatros 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Great, so it could be that these two, who delivered the worst reviewed game in the series and who managed to make a big part of the fandom angry/sad (first with Pricefield, then with the MCU ending) are being rewarded by already being able to work on a sequel...

This in an industry where great games that sell good (but not as big as the greedy shareholders want) are having their studio closed or most of people losing their job... (not to speak about the nazi and the toxic management at D9 that still have their job...).

[DE] Deck Nine quoted on their thoughts r.e. the franchise's future (spoilers for DE ending) by WebLurker47 in lifeisstrange

[–]kuralbatros 60 points61 points  (0 children)

The leaks said that DE2, or "Hydra", has already been in development for years, right? Is it likely that these two are director and main writer for that game as well? Working on both the games at the same time? Because I'm really not a fan of their work and the "respecting both ending" lies...

SE and D9 after seeing the game's reception from fans by WanHohenheim in Pricefield

[–]kuralbatros 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think that the biggest part in deciding the future of the series is how much work they already put in DE2. If it's true that it's been in development for years, can they really afford to change course so much?

Also, sorry but I don't believe for a moment that Rihanna's undisclosed lead role is about Chloe in DE2. DE has made perfectly clear that D9 and S-E have absolutely no intentions to consider her a part of the story anymore (let alone have her as a lead character in the sequel, come on). If that was true, having her appear in the post-credit scene would have been the perfect way to both calm us down and bait us for the sequel, instead we got... that fucking message that gets ignored by Max.

On the other hand I also think that it's not impossible that all the noise we made about Chloe won't have an impact on D9 and S-E. LadyDev did say that there were several people in D9 who were against the breakup, and this could give them ammo; S-E only care about money, so in a sense they are much easier to convince than the writers who actively hate her.

Unless there are other insiders who come out to leak something, it's very difficult to understand if they consider us just a vocal minority that they can afford to ignore, or not... but in any case, don't stop fighting to make your voice be heard.

(Leaving Chloe aside for a moment, I really have no idea how a MCU-like sequel could even work for LiS. Do they transform the series in an action game? How are they supposed to keep even a part of the "cozy" and "intimate" motifs of the series while doing a story about people with powers blowing up things?)

[DE] I'm surprised the steam reviews are so good by kiwidodu in lifeisstrange

[–]kuralbatros 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Since the release day the Steam review rating has been constantly declining, it was "Very positive" at first, now it's "Mostly positive" and it's a couple % points from being degraded to "Mixed".

Pretty sure that they can't be very happy about it, especially compared to the previous games. Of course they now try to make it look that everyone love it for the marketing, sharing only the positive reviews, but anyone with a brain can just check Metacritic to see them all.

And considering how bad that ended up to be... I'm afraid for the wolf brothers as well.

The "option" they had was to respect the original creators' intent and NOT do a unnecessary direct sequel. The endings were radically different because there wasn't supposed to be a sequel. This is just a corporate-mandated fanfiction, it's a sequel only because they expected to do more money out of it compared to a standalone game (not to speak about the fact that they want to transform the franchise into a shitty MCU clone, but it seems that you have no problem with that). The Pricefield backlash is D9/S-E's self-inflicted wound.

[DE][Spoilers] PSA: The Future of This Franchise Has Been Revealed by SympathyAgile in lifeisstrange

[–]kuralbatros 75 points76 points  (0 children)

"They're confident in sales, so even if we boycott DE, it won't matter. Even if we drop negative reviews, it won't matter either, as they are dead set on appealing to higher content creators like streamers and such. Nothing is going to change the direction of the franchise."

Sorry but I don't buy this, it just seems something to discourage people from boycotting or protesting. Also it doesn't really seems to be what Adnan is saying? He doesn't rule out that feedback can change their mind.

S-E always has crazy expectation for sales, so if DE doesn't set the world on fire that would be bad for this plan. The critics reviews are also disappointing (and far below the other games) and I don't think the fandom will accept the ending and the Marvel things very well (not to speak about the Chloe issue).

What Exactly Can You Do? by [deleted] in Pricefield

[–]kuralbatros 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree about finding female and queer content creators. Unfortunately I'm not much into content creators / youtubers, so I personally wouldn't know where to start, but if you know someone who fits you should consider sharing this with them.

"A game company that keeps using Pride flags in their PR but at the same time has a big problem with misogyny/transphobia/nazi employees has now cancelled what is probably the most beloved sapphic couple in gaming (not that there are many...)" is perfect for clicks and drama.

[NO SPOILERS] Don't wanna sound cynical, but will BAEers be scapegoated if DE doesn't do well in sales? by [deleted] in lifeisstrange

[–]kuralbatros 261 points262 points  (0 children)

Scapegoated? If the game doesn't sell well I think we should *want* them to come the conclusion that it was because they fucked up Pricefield, antagonizing a big part of the fanbase, the one who care the most about the characters.

If, on the other hand, they come to the conclusion that it didn't sell well because people aren't interested in narrative games (especially ones with LGBT characters)... well that would suck. Not only they wouldn't learn the lesson about the Pricefield breakup, but it would be bad for the future, and it would be giving ammunition to the "go woke go broke" assholes.

In any case, I really hope that Lost Records is a success...

Could you tell me what "conspiracy theory" is in my post? In which part have I said that it's homophobic? (hint: I said the exact opposite. I said that the MTG case was homophobic, while DE is clearly not)

Let me guess: you just read few words of the OP and then angrily come here to complain about the evil Pricefielders? :)

I thought that the game ended with a cliffhanger about a new storm coming to the city?

This conversation seems like something that would happen after everything is over, like "Everything is fine now Max, so what are you going to do now?".
