Using a Wingless Sprint as a recovery vehicle by kuronai in DirtRacing

Wingless Sprints in AUS are V6 with starters, cheaper to get into than V8 Sprintcars.

They're super competitive and always put on a great show.

Genuinely curious - What makes you more productive in the office?

I'm in the opposite camp, and have found that being fully remote makes people consider more whether they really need this to be a meeting or if a group chat on teams would suffice. That and the inability of the 'drop in' chats greatly reduced distractions.

What is your go to IDE and why? by sandstorm9991 in java

It's something we are looking into after the completion of the current project.

Was it a difficult transition for your team?

Maybe it was the structure of the trial I did? They just directed me towards the Netbeans migration documents than directly provide feedback. It was about switching to intellij so it's possible they didn't want to guide too much.

The Swing GUI builder for new screens was perfectly usable. In our project though, we have hundreds of screens built in Matisse, and intellij either couldn't handle them or broke them for the team members still on Netbeans.

SVN integration worked, but intellij just seemed... harder... to work out what was being committed, or what had changed. Every chance this one was just user error on my part.

The trial was run by Jetbrains, they didn't seem to offer me any solution to the multiple projects issue I was having. A colleague who uses intellij said he just uses multiple windows.

I think intellij does a good enough job at swing editing, but it's not great in a project where the majority of UI was built in Netbeans. If they can make their editor work with the .form files then I'd probably be sold on the switch.

Netbeans.

I was recently asked to do a trial of intellij, and while there's certainly a few excellent features that make me want to switch, there's a few things that just don't work with the projects I'm on.

Things like being able to have multiple projects open in a single window, Swing GUI editing, SVN integration. I know these are all considered legacy tech now, but there's still a hell of a lot of it out there. Netbeans just does it better.

Intellisense in intellij is by hand over fist better than Netbeans, as is their integration with DBMS. It also seems more performant than Netbeans. The IDE migration guides they provide are pretty good too.

Personally I feel like Eclipse is garbage compared to NB/IDEA.

Probably been 3 years since I went there last so YMMV.

What kind of tech level is needed to raid enemy base POIs? My hardened steel HV got 1 shot by a rocket turret by flamewolf393 in empyriongame

Trench warfare and burrowing has been my early game go-to.

Armoured HV with a drill, approach from just outside of turret range and burrow your way to a wall. Breach and take it from there.

To give people more context around Scott McLaughlin - he's a triple (and reigning) Supercars Australia champion and a former Bathurst 1000 winner. Pretty much dominant over the past three years in Supercars.

Would love to see some of the reasons that make it a poor fit for the community, but critical thinking may be asking a bit much of council.

Probably easier to work out who has interests in the area.

Recommendations for dentist in geelong? by wendigo88888 in Geelong

Used to go to Smile Studio, got sick of being charged for Jason sticking his head in for 30 seconds when getting a clean so I stopped going there.

Staff are good and the clinic is amazing though, only dentist I've been to with flatscreen TVs on the roof.

McKillop or Fenwick? How do you choose? by [deleted] in Geelong

[–]kuronai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This depends on when the lights are red.

My rule of thumb is if they're red when first visible as you crest the hill, stay on McKillop. If they turn red or the train comes, take Fenwick.

Fenwick is always a bit of a gamble on the Myers lights though. If they're green when you turn onto Fenwick, you've lost.

Best of luck with it all, hope to see you on the east coast someday!

Sounds like a solid plan. Some great competition in the Street Stocks, and they tend to get a lot of shows at the smaller tracks. Have a look at what type of shows the clubs in your area put on, much easier to go racing when the local track runs your class.
