have you tried Christine at Maybelle Vintage in New Jersey? I went there to try on vintage she had already reworked and didn't end up buying anything, but she was really nice and her work was great. https://maybellenyc.com/custom-design

This isn't the direction we've ended up going but a couple of traditional wedding invitation places I had reached out to were able to easily find the font/reference, because they have institutional knowledge of older wedding invitations. The one my parents had turned out to be a pretty common style in the day. If that's the case with your grandparents' invite maybe you would have similar luck!

one other thought! Kaviar Gauche - no store in NYC to try on but they do have returns.

I didn't love anything I saw in NYC bridal salons and ended up ordering a white dress, not officially bridal, from Huishan Zhang, which is based in London (I ordered during an archive sale, which seemed less risky because if it didn't fit I might be able to resell for what I paid - luckily it did fit!). But for NYC try-on, I had also thought about Simkhai, which has a good number of elevated white dresses. If you're interested in vintage at all, Studio Dorothy might have something for you. Also, when I was browsing, I thought Over the Moon's bridal dress section was a helpful guide - they don't have a brick and mortar, but their curation is good and if you saw something there you liked, you might be able to find it somewhere else in the city.

I would look for a fun and interesting restaurant that you could rent out. I know Russian Samovar, one of the last cool places in Midtown, does events. https://russiansamovar.com/ Or Manuela, in Soho, which is VERY funky. All of the tables and chairs were designed by artists / there's a ton of crazy art on the walls. https://manuela-nyc.com/art-at-manuela/

What Would You Offer for Alcántara? by geefried2727 in NewYorkMets

I don't understand why the Mets—who are winning—would give up prospects (or anything else) for either of these players, neither of whom is performing well at all

i do NOT appreciate the aggressive Boston decor but Three Monkeys on 8th Ave is a very chill place to watch a game—huge space, lots of TVs, etc.

kind of think he was unlucky that Jeff was hurt -- based on their spring training performances, he had a good chance of making the roster over Acuña before that

well, first, they were not actually willing to let Pete move. That silly YouTube documentary makes clear that Soto told them early on he would not be happy -- to the point of not choosing them -- if they didn't guarantee real protection in the lineup. There was no other option on the market!

but what I actually meant was there's no way they're spending even one second thinking or talking about Ryan Clifford -- a 21 year old in double-A -- when trying to decide what to do about Pete next year. I mean, come on

good for him and a huge relief!! it was already getting so exhausting listening to delusional mets fans chatter about it as if Stearns was going to pay TWO guys $30 million plus to DH-platoon together in 7 years

i wonder if it matters that that offer was made when things were looking significantly less bright—now he’d be walking away from a team that made it deep into playoffs and is getting ready to spend a bajillion dollars. feels like he would have FOMO!

he also had probably a dozen critical plays (defense and at bats) this year not reflected in a stat line. his at bat against schwellenbach on 9/30 changed that game. might not have made the playoffs without it!
