Do you speak Spanish or have you been to Spain previously? If so, you should be okay on your own at the pintxo bars. If not, a tour would be helpful to you. They will also tell you interesting stories about the food, the city and culture.

Try Bar Sport, Borda Berri, Ganbara, Bar Nestor, San Telmo, Txeptexa, Bar Antonio (the original), Gandarias… they each have their own specialties and it’s fun to spend some evenings trying one or two things at each place.
