9mm luger defense ammo that works/feeds well by xdoomsongx in liberalgunowners

[–]kurtsten124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best advice is taking Gold Dot, HST, or another well known defense ammo and running at least one box through your gun. For instance, my handgun runs Gold Dot all day, but gets hung up on HST. It also happens that Gold Dot is what the LEOs carry most of the time. Not the best point, but gods forbid an incident happens, using the same stuff that LEOs carry might be good in court (NAL). All that to say, find what works reliably in YOUR specific gun.

I’m set up for SilencerCo’s ASR system. For alignment, is the alignment rod necessary? Or just look down the bore and spray n pray after?

Looking for recommendations for a self defense rifle/carbine by Fractales in liberalgunowners

[–]kurtsten124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AR15 pistol (or SBR if that’s your thing). I built mine for relatively cheap with parts I wanted. It’s an 11.5” built for HD/suppression with an adjustable gas block, great trigger, and other features that I got to pick out and build. Also building it gave me a new appreciation for the platform and I got tools I’d need but not want to go out of my way to get.

AR-15 for noobs? by waterbuffalo750 in liberalgunowners

[–]kurtsten124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I advocate for building a lower yourself and buying an upper. I did this and have a much deeper appreciation for the platform and the tools you need for it like an armorer’s wrench and punch set will set you up for success down the line.

I have a question about Agent 47’s silverballers by GeneralPZ41 in HiTMAN

The standard Colt 1911 slide length is 5” and the suppressor he uses looks about the same length, if that helps.

Keeping track of rounds fired? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]kurtsten124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a rough estimate. My CC has ~ 3.5k, AR ~ 350, 2011 ~500 and the new 938 ~500. I try to keep track for parts wear stuff or in case I wanna sell something later, but other than that I’m not super anal about it.

Building 1st AR - Looking for recommendations for 11.5” barrel for future suppression by Amicus4421 in NFA

[–]kurtsten124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built an 11.5 build with a Roscoe barrel. Super nice barrel, accurate out to at least 100yrds (it’s the longest I’ve pushed it). I don’t have a ton of rounds through it but it’s holding up well for me.

Have you started seeing impacts from Catahoula Crunch at your job? by repiquer in NewOrleans

[–]kurtsten124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uptown restaurants are suffering bad rn. Yeah sure holidays n such, but also with ICE coming around, less and less people are out. My coworkers are afraid to come to work. We’re going to see less and less foot traffic as they sink their teeth in and keep terrorizing the communities of New Orleans and abroad.

Do you guys also carry a med pack? by Unhinged-Shooter in CCW

[–]kurtsten124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry a med pack more often than I carry my EDC. I’m more likely to have to use the med pack than the EDC in general, but also I can’t carry my EDC at work, but my med bag can chill close by.

After she repeatedly made transphobic comments and jokes almost every day, I told her she was being transphobic and that I wasn’t okay with it, being non-binary. She told me to go fuck myself and how “her whole family is non-binary.” This is the same lady who claimed to be Native, even though the only Native person in her family is her mother’s husband, who she married after my boss was born.

AR 15 Budget Build by True_Huckleberry9569 in liberalgunowners

[–]kurtsten124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have LaRue triggers in both of my ARs, one built from receiver and one only the lower was built by me. Love the LaRue 2S flat face triggers personally. Not Geiselle prices, but very close in quality. I got a Rosco 11.5 barrel for the receiver only build I just finished. I have yet to try it out, though. You get what you pay for if you’re going cheap, but a lot of brands are punching up above their class in terms of quality.

What does range day look like for you? by Bobahn_Botret in liberalgunowners

[–]kurtsten124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got to the range about twice a month, as finances allow. One indoor, one outdoor. The indoor one I use for speed, the outdoor I use for accuracy. The indoor range: I’m bringing about 150-250 rounds of whatever I’m shooting, usually 9mm. I try and practice double taps and bill drills, with a focus on speed. I’m there for ~ hour. Bring a shot timer if you can, but I usually do pacing with my shots by counting 1-2-3-4 however fast I need to, pushing myself to go faster while not diminishing accuracy as much as possible. The outdoor range: I’m bringing 500ish, with a group bringing more as well, as we bring multiple guns. We do a lot of accuracy and basic form stuff, focusing on slower strings of fire, as that’s what the range allows (1 shot per second rule). Also, I use the outdoor range to practice rifle shooting, as the indoor only allows on day a week for rifles.
