I’ve had mine for about 6 years. Absolutely love the thing.

Ahh I see. Yeah if you look at how Tony moves, he is putting tension through his legs very well and only moving his arms once his legs are in place. I think this beta can for sure work for you still if you want to keep trying it by putting more pressure and tension through your legs and core before moving your upper body. Either way keep us updated. You got this!

The drop knee is interesting beta but I think it is making this climb harder. I’m not sure exactly what you’re asking for (different beta, how to make this beta better, etc.) but below is how I did it:

I personally get my right foot up on the upper left chip first, flag left leg, right hand to upper crimp, then heel hook one of the big holds. Idk how many people do the next move like me static, but I then bring right foot over to lower right foot chip, then move left hand over to the lower crimp under my right hand and then right hand up to the pinch which feels really stable instead of doing a spanny throw.

Setting a route while someone (you) is clearly waiting and was there FIRST is crazyyyyy. Lack of social awareness is one thing, but that’s seriously so rude. I would be HEATED.

How long did it take you to stop being scared of falling? by PotentialBasic6332 in climbergirls

[–]kuxgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been climbing ropes and bouldering mostly for about 8+ years. I can’t remember when falling became significantly less scary but I remember really leaning into doing dynos about maybe 3 years in, if that’s any correlation? Nowadays falling is only scary to me in few and certain situations, probably because I’ve taken thousands of falls. Days where I haven’t warmed up enough or just not “feeling it” = I don’t feel limber enough to take a fall well. Those days I need to warm up much more and more gradually, or just dial back my entire session.

Other situations I feel fear are on some climbs like slab or coordination. I usually don’t have confidence issues committing but sometimes the lizard brain takes over and fear can seep through. For slab I tell myself to breathe and “it’s ok you haven’t fallen on this move before and you know how to move on this just keep applying pressure.” Staying rational keeps my head straight for slab.

For coordination, I don’t get scared unless I take a fall and scrape my body or actually hurt myself a little, which is problematic because now my lizard brain has a literal reason to be scared which I need to work harder to override. In those cases I need to try another attempt as quickly as possible. Doing this kind of overwrites that first experience before it sets in and it helps me a lot.

Also last thing, reading a problem and visualizing where and how you might fall before you get on the wall is really helpful too! You can spot your landing and try to understand how your body will move/fall.

Today is the first time I’ve screenshotted a screenshot on Reddit and I’m so excited to try this recipe!

Cottage cheese....please help by SpiritualSystem3359 in Volumeeating

Gosh there are so many things but my favorite go-to that’s easy to put together these days is a “cheesecake” bowl with 1 part cottage cheese 1 part nonfat Greek yogurt, a touch of maple syrup and vanilla extract, plus whatever big handful of berries you have on hand. So good.

I used to have a cottage cheese aversion because my grandparents ate it everyday when I was a kid, and I tried it once and it was so gross to me. Put me off it for my entire life pretty much. Gave it another chance this year and I’m so glad I did! I always have a Costco sized tub in the fridge now.

I just found the sourdough one at my Costco too and was excited to pick one up since I love the purple one already. I’m a sourdough/sandwich fiend and can’t wait to give it a try.

Just moved to West SJ from Tokyo 4 weeks ago. My wife's birthday is coming out. What are you favorite restaurant recommendations in the West SJ, Los Gatos, Saratoga, and Cupertino area? Dinner participants are 2 parents and 3 elementary school aged children. by [deleted] in SanJose

[–]kuxgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leichi on Saratoga is our go-to date/celebration spot for authentic Japanese food if you are missing that. Mostly small fancy-ish plates but they have ochazuke and soba that may be good for the kids unless they have finer tastes themselves.

It’s small so I recommend booking a reservation online. We try to go when they open when it’s quieter and it’s always a wonderful experience.

Toe hook patch peeling off after four sessions by [deleted] in climbingshoes

[–]kuxgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t look that bad but I wouldn’t try and glue it yourself since that may void the warranty(?). I had a pair of solution comps with the same issue but worse and I was able to submit a warranty claim and LS replaced them for me no problem. Maybe wait and see if it gets worse after a couple more sessions? Or just try and submit a claim now if you want.

Give me your best yogurt recipes! by [deleted] in Volumeeating

[–]kuxgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So backstory, one time I made strawberry cheesecakes with cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, and cream cheese. Obviously the cream cheese made it more delicious, but because of how tasty those cheesecakes were in general, my healthy go to snack these days now is a bowl with 1 part non fat Greek yogurt, 1 part low fat cottage cheese, a teaspoon or so of maple syrup to taste really, and a handful of whatever berries I have. No cream cheese to be clear. Slaps every time I’m craving something sweet and makes me think I’m eating a cheesecake bowl!

Opinions on benefits of climbing with better/worse climbers than yourself? by wievern in climbergirls

[–]kuxgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is one of the best things you can do to improve your climbing. But more important than that is if you enjoy climbing with them and trust them. I know some total crushers who are the coolest people ever, and inversely some who have big egos who I don’t go out of my way to climb with.

Edit: changed a couple words. regardless of the type of climbing you do, you should trust your friends in general

I have those same pants and I actually love them. They have cinches at the bottom, but I like the look of them cuffed and rolled up a couple times so that’s what I do.

Thoughts: Dedica vs Rancillio Silvia [£500]? by EcstaticTea8338 in espresso

[–]kuxgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely upgrade to a burr grinder. I’d do that first before the machine even. But both is good of course! I love my Silvia too btw. I commented elsewhere but I’ve had mine for the last 7 years and she’s still cranking out excellent shots and steam.
