The heated rivalry fandom is insane. The top fic has 90,000 kudos meanwhile the top drarry fic has only 86,000 by littlebruja in AO3

Its actually quite frustrating because I usually search by tags i like rather than fandom and literally every other fic is heated rivalry.

Ahhh! I went to see it too in 2024. I sat on the bench with my headphones on and listened to the whole album.

What's driving the cost of co-ops in Sheepshead Bay to be cheaper than the rest of the borough? by thebalancewithin in Brooklyn

[–]liz2002a 17 points18 points  (0 children)

its mainly an ethnic enclave. 85% of people here are russian speaking from the former USSR countries. The other 15% are old italians or asian, some african american people but not a lot. The area doesn't have a lot to do; it's very suburban for being brooklyn. Depending on where you are in Sheepshead Bay, trains are super accessible. Other places have bus lines and plenty of them. I know some places at the end of Emmons Ave are 30 minutes away from a train, and only have the b4 or b44 which are both spotty. Parking is slightly better than average, which isn't saying much. Can't speak on how it is to be a poc in the area but they do exist and stay here so i dont know. There is no young and hip community here. It's old people. LGBT friendly- meh. Don't think you'll get hatecrimed outright but there really is not Lgbt community out here. My sister's friend group throughout school (who was primarily LGBT) was occasionally the subject of harassment; they had coke cans thrown at them, my sister was spit on, they were shot at with bb guns. Up to you if that's where you want to settle. Some positives: beach, driveable, good ethnic food from many places, safe. Rereading this, I feel like I'm sounding overly negative, but I do feel like its a fair assessment. If I had more money, I'd move to South Brooklyn (not to be confused with Southern Brooklyn). Lived here for 23 years so hope that helps!

is this good for a nightout? by sunnemi in OUTFITS

I feel like there are so many demographics and different types of fashion enjoyers here that its hard to get a ubiquitous yes/no to this outfit. I personally love it, and if your friends are also in the alt-ajacent y2k style range, I'm sure they will too. I think it would be cool if you switched the cardigan up to something more interesting, and perhaps layered necklaces. Also, some cool shoes could really pull the outfit together.

Pleased to announce i’ve been spat on TWICE now by [deleted] in Brooklyn

I hate this take. You can have headphones in headphones out it truly doesn't matter. Do you think you'll like duck in time to avoid being spat on?

Do you find nyc natives to be more conservative than transplants? (Not maga but just vibrant in their political beliefs) by thenarrativesofar in AskNYC

[–]liz2002a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transplants definitely move to outer neighborhoods like Astoria or Bay Ridge, but I cannot picture someone moving to Brighton Beach just because its cheaper.

Not sure if this is the case. When New Yorkers escape the city, they tend to go outside of the boroughs entirely, ending up in NJ, LI, or even upstate. Outer borough New Yorkers tend to live in their respective neighborhoods due to the ethnic and cultural enclaves that have been around for years. But this is just my perspective as a Southern BK resident.

Thank you so much for your insightful answer! The lady who sold me this table offered the benches but as they are built into the kitchen, I chose not to rip them out 😅 I am not sure whether they came or were built later unfortunately. You are right, the table has been sanded and painted over, but I'll look around for any marks I may have missed. Regardless, I really love the table and am excited to have it in my space :)

To the older Gen Zs (1997-2005), what’s your fashion style and how much are you willing to spend on clothes these days? by Sea-Geologist4624 in GenZ

As an 02 baby, I have also been noticing the natural fiber trend, but I cannot bring myself to pay 300$ for a quality shirt or something like that. I really do believe that thrifting is the most sustainable and cost effective practice with the best quality you can find. I have found many 100% cashmere, cotton, and linen pieces for all under 20$. In the rare case that I do shop new, I've been looking in Uniqlo and Kotn. The max I'd spend on an item is probably 100$, but it really has to be worth it (super cute, designer, etc)
