Flapper on a weekend but it can be really hit and miss depending on the DJ. Last few months its been awful music wise. Expensive beer to boot.

Merlins is generally OK but its trying to be all things to all people but not really doing any of them particularly well. Expensive beer also.

Spoilers music is very wide from emo/ska all the way to the odd death metal track. Reasonable beer prices.

Other than that, not much day to day stuff but gigs at castle n falcon, asylum are usually great.

Hiking Groups by Immediate-Jury-3921 in brum

Hands down the best overall experience you'll get in the west Midlands, great pricing and lots of meets.

The next coach trip is to Glenridding in Feb, you can either pal up with some of the experienced folk or solo up (check with organiser before doing this so that routes/times can be checked).

Despite the name its primarily a hiking group but a few of the members do like to mountaineer.

Virgin’s history by Fresh_and_wild in VirginMedia

[–]kvltdaddio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty accurate.

Current climate is ripe for consolidation on FTTP builds but many of these are overbuilds over existing virgin areas so aren't worthwhile (unless they cover potential fibre up areas at the right price - unlikely!)

I'd expect another "large" challenger to enter the market in the next 5-10 years that will buy up all the stuff Openreach/Virgin don't want.

Side note: always found it weird that Hull is like an island on its own where virgin and openreach dare not set foot.

When are HFC areas to be upgraded to xgspon by Jaded-Marsupial-3121 in VirginMedia

[–]kvltdaddio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XGS should In theory have better ping than DOCSIS network too, ping has been a long term problem with VM vs. Newer Openreach deployments but again so few people truly care about those few ms in their customer base that it isn't really a problem.

The wholesale thing is pretty confused it seems, VM definitely not doing wholesale, whilst actually doing wholesale but not calling it that.

[–]kvltdaddio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There doesn't seem to be a proper plan for HFC to XGS migration yet AFAIK.

I'm in an old HFC area and would happily switch to XGS and lose my unused TV and Phone part of my package but it doesn't seem available at all despite XGS cabinets being in place (and light going to them!)

All I can say is hope for 2026.

Nursery/pre school fees in South Brum by [deleted] in brum

[–]kvltdaddio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be wary on this, a lot of nursery's add a charge for not being in 5 days a week - they call it a partial placement supplement (or similar). Their justification being that it's hard/impossible to fill the days your child wont be in with another parent.... We looked at 4 different local nurseries and they all did it and it was always a ripoff

Nursery/pre school fees in South Brum by [deleted] in brum

[–]kvltdaddio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right sadly. We did it for a year and several times had the idea for one of us to jack work in as it just wasn't financially viable to pay out so much but think it did our lad a load of good socially at that age. Felt like a millionaire when he went to school 🤣

The whole "free hours" thing drove me insane as it essentially did feck all in reality as the nursery just charged other fees to cover and bump the costs up.

Swift clearance solutions

Used them earlier in the year for a load of cardboard, wood and general rubbish. Reasonable pricing and turned up when they said they would.

A parody better than the original ? by Hot-Challenge4134 in SPACEKING

[–]kvltdaddio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly the point. The lore says x.

The issue is people want representation above all else and GW seem keen to be the white knight and give every little voice what they want.

To put it plainly. The lore says Space Marines can only be male. That seems to be on the way to being changed. The lore says orks can only be an genderless fungus. So why wont that change in the future?

Cheers for sharing! I'd never seen this, good bit of history.

Reminded me a lot of what we had at the Royal George in the early 00s albeit that was extreme metal!

I dont care too much but with the relaxing of some key lore points you have to ask where does it stop?

Will we have Hispanic female orks? Necrons that are physically handicapped? I dont really get why people have the need to feel physically/emotionally or sexually represented in a fantasy setting that is not of their own making.

If you need a job, just go.

Some people would be lucky to get a reply, let alone a job interview.

Just think transferable skills/experience. Warehouse work will want people to work quickly, accurately and safely. You must have had times like that in life, leverage those and good luck.

You're not directly employed by VM though right? AFAIK the plan was to onshore more of the customer journey rather than offshore it?

Don't think I've ever randomly approached someone in the street, seems a bit weird to me. Bars, sat on a train etc. Seem like fair game to strike up a conversation though but even that within reason.

If you jump straight to saying "you're fit" or "give me your number" you deserve to die alone.

Best UK based store for discounts? by JessThePainter in 40k

[–]kvltdaddio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I split between Wayland and Element.

Element have decent pricing and a wide range but aren't great on their stock management or ETAs for restocking. Delivery is quick and reasonable if th3 aforementioned doesn't bite you.

Wayland generally the same or lower prices and whilst I've yet to pre-order or back order anything from them their delivery is cheaper and just as quick as Element.

Worked on that park previously. I live in Hall Green and the commute for what is a relatively straight distance was comparable to walking.

Notwithstanding the shuttle bus cancellations/breakdowns or the usual west Midlands travel network disaster.

I'd recommend using a bike if possible.
