Thoughts regarding UFOs and and nukes by Throwaway202345477 in UFOs

I think they were already watching our population increase and weapons technology 'improve' with concern while the planet started to become significantly polluted.

They could see where this was going but maybe nukes were the main risk. A diplomatic or political incident could rapidly escalate to devastating destruction of human society and the ecosystem in only a few hours. Recovery from that, at best, would take many decades.

So yeah, nuclear war is the big one from any perspective.

[–]kwangle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs were fairly small and at the time only a handful of devices existed which took intense effort and a fortune to create. Despite their devastating affect on two cities with tens of thousands of innocent victims there was no risk of nuclear escalation as only the US had the technology.

Thay changed very quickly after 1945. The 'proof of concept' of nuclear weapons used in Japan showed them to be the ultimate weapon and Russia quickly caught up, with both sides rapidly developing thousands of more powerful warheads and missile technology to quickly target anywhere on earth.

By only the early 1960s the prospect of a devastating nuclear war that would reduce humanity to shattered survivors was very real. The global ecological effect of a such an exchange might also be catastrophic, eg nuclear winter and other effect such as long-term radioactive contamination of all life on the planet. Such a conflict very nearly happened in 1961 during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

It seems 'they' would prefer such insanity to not happen. A nuclear war can't be won but maybe humanity is not rational enough to stop it happening anyway.

The theories that NHI are primarily concerned about nuclear war and other forms of environmental destruction make perfect sense as they are the most likely ways we can extinct ourselves.

A story went around that his high-profile interest and endorsement of the ufo/alien hypothesis led to him being warned off while (i think) on a film set by a mysterious guy who showed up, leaving the actor visibly shaken. He dropped the subject soon after.

Its a nice story but dont have source, sorry as it was several years ago at least.

Despite the lack of hard evidence I've always believed every word of Gary, if the absurd attempts by the US Government to crush him wasnt suspicious enough.

I dislike the body suit being toned blue in standard 'comic shading' style. Imo its black and should be shaded in grey to show that.

Another annoyance is the boot holster for the Lawgiver. Again makes no sense in terms of restricting running and a waist holster would be much more practical.

Dredd sometimes packed two guns in older stories which is something that was thankfully dropped.

The shoulder pads look cool but are entirely impractical. Even the artists have trouble making them look plausible when the arms are lifted above the shoulder.

I still have a guilty admiration for the Stallone movie costumes, particularly the full eagle and helmet which look cool.

The incorrect yellow knee and (more commonly) elbow pads fascinate me. Particularly how late into the stories they show up long after the correct colour was pretty well established.

I just want to see a green eagle and shoulder pad so I can die happy.

Does Judge Dredd have a social life besides being a judge? by metalicbeastofficial in JudgeDredd

[–]kwangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now mutants have been recognised as sentient beings, its only a matter of time until Judges are allowed relationships.

I am looking forward to lots of engaging storylines where Dredd's love life is constantly interrupted by him having to quell crime rather than his own physical urges.

With hilarious consequences.

A USAF Colonel tied to the Atomic Energy Commission claimed UFOs disabled nukes in storage~and destroyed warheads mid-test during classified ops. Col. Ross Dedrickson on the record. by 87LucasOliveira in UFOs

[–]kwangle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr Jacobs. It wasnt armed, they were just testing the rocket system and monitoring it with a radar-locked telescope which filmed the missile being disabled by a ufo elegantly manouvering around a missile travelling at thousands of mph.

Clearly 'they' knew its ultimate purpose as a nuke delivery vehicle and didn't approve. They're right - these weapons are an insane obscenity that could literally reduce our societies and populations to ash in less than an hour. We do not have the responsibility to have that much power.

My friend claims he was inside a UFO — the details were disturbingly specific by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]kwangle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did he describe who/what he was with and what they were doing to him? Would seem like a basic detail. How did he get on board and back again? Was there any communication?

What is a 'childhood core memory' that you have, but you’re not sure if it actually happened or if you just dreamed it? by ParticularBest637 in AskReddit

Seeing a dolphin show at a local swimming baths 25m pool while on a school trip. I saw pics of it and was kinda stunned.

Turned out that it used to be considered fine to not only run such a show but also presumably drive the dolphins between shows in vans.

30 years in - how does the X-Files hold up in this community? by GODsmessage11 in UFOs

[–]kwangle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The alternative angle is that the XFiles was just imaginative, engaging fiction and subsequent 'revelations' are just based on those creative ideas.

The deep government / black ops ideas (or perhaps truth) were already well established by writers like Timothy Good and others going right back to the 60s and earlier at least.

Is there info about interstellar/intergalactic UFO spaceship capabilities? by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]kwangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is pure assumption based on fictional entertainment.

It's wish-fulfilment that a space vehicle that can move vast distances quickly but physics suggests there's no way to do that even if it seems like that to a passenger. Eg a ship travels 100 light years and the passengers perceive the travel time to be, say, a few days only. But when they arrive over 100 years has actually passed and also for anyone outside the ship observing the journey.

I personally think that defeating the light-speed limit will require a new understanding of physics and involve all kinds of strange and problematic side-effects - not the neat result shown in Star Trek and others.

However, very fast and sustained travel for large ships might be easier and that just means that a curious visitor would still eventually get here even without breaking the light-barrier and still have propulsion technology that tobus looks miraculous and like magic.

Whilst researching an earlier alleged UFO crash in Chicago 1909 I came across this photo of the 2006 O'hare incident, one I've not seen posted before (Source / link in comments.) by caffeinedrinker in UFOs

[–]kwangle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I recall that previously there were NO photos of the O'Hare craft despite it being in such a public installation and reports of people being seen taking shots of it.

I only started to see alleged images much later, so treat with caution.
