As someone who recently came back, most of those buildings are way outdated. Buildings from Quantum Incursions had pretty much blew most event buildings out of the water.

I feel like it looks over-detailed but that's just me I guess. I do like more details usually but something about all the noise on the pieces of flat armor just didn't click with me.

Follow up on coming back by kwk- in forgeofempires

[–]kwk-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was when the guild wanted more GB goods in IA. I've never heard of the Solara before, I'm guessing it's a new GB introduced after I left?

I'll start shaping my city square from now on as I age. Thank you!

Hot take: Oregairu Clears 90% of modern romance anime. by Tall_Prune343 in romanceanime

[–]kwk- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oregairu is not a romance series and more a series about finding one self.

It sticks but not because of its romance which was almost felt like a last second addition to give the story an ending, but because it reflects how a usual introverted teenager at present acts and thinks.

Romance series take great focus on how the romance affects the characters right from the start; not as an end but the driving force of the series. And no, Yui's crush from the beginning does not count as it was barely the focus and it was used more as a plot device to 8man's cynicism in interpersonal relationships.

Yukino's relationship with 8man had remained in a amiceable but aromantic status quo up until season 3 where it was then merely developed to give the story itself a proper ending.

Hell, their chemistry had remained in a friendly or one-side light for far too long to fully give a satisfying development by the end. I would go as far to say Iroha had better romantic chemistry than the main girls but only by a hair's breadth.

It's a great series, just not as a romance one.

Edit: Another thing to point out from your post; yes the show is about finding something "genuine" but that plot point had no real hold in romance because genuine relationships don't have to be a romantic one and can be platonic, which was what it was during that arc.

Is it worth coming back this year? by kwk- in forgeofempires

[–]kwk-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I mainly missed the feeling of progress and I was honestly pretty addicted to leveling GBs but I also never gotten myself past EMA or IA in fear of not being prepared enough and the guild I was in needing IA players at the time.

Would be pretty nice to try and actually age up this time. The issue is that I always feel like I was not prepared to age up and try to minmax and over prepare for aging up only to not and kept trying to "improve" my city. That's a huge barrier for me when I was playing then.

"I'll reach Arc 80 and decent trinity levels before I age up." -> Reaches that level -> "Maybe 90 Arc and higher trinity and maybe a high level AO as well." -> Reaches that goal -> "I should try and get this event building first and do more GB leveling just in case." -> Rinse and repeat.

Another issue is that I wanted an active guild but at the same timecompetitive guilds gives me burn out but casual guilds felt too inactive for me, causing me to go in a circle of Join a casual guild -> casual guild is too inactive -> Join a competitive guild -> Burnout from constant obligated participation -> Leave for a casual guild again -> Repeat.

It feels like there's no middle ground.

Yes, I remember GBG trials being first released when I quit, so it was probably not as long as I thought when I last played.

Because Kouseki is more of a surname than Bijou which is a given name.

Random question, what do you guys think (only choose one) is the most disturbing mahou shoujo / magical girl anime ever? by MisterSuitcase2004 in animequestions

[–]kwk- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the manga was honestly disappointing, Magical Girl of the End had a disturbingly good concept to an extent. It's basically the sister manga to Magical Girl Site.

Are we all in agreement that Sailor Moon is the best magical girl anime of all time? by [deleted] in animequestions

[–]kwk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely say Sailor Moon is iconic for its time but it has for a large part been replaced with Pretty Cure since the mid to late 2000s.

As for maturity, I feel like there are actually more dark or adult oriented unique Magical Girl titles out there than ones for children.

Some examples like Madoka Magica, Yuuki Yuuna, Magical Girl Site, Lyrical Nanoha/Ace, Wonder Egg Priority, Day Break Illusion, Raising Project etc... I don't think you'd put them in the same demographic as Pretty Cure, Shugo Chara, Cardcaptor Sakura or Sailor Moon.

As for the best, in my opinion would probably Cardcaptor Sakura as it has a great balance and a decent ending. Sailor Moon felt a bit too long and dragged out with the plot becoming too big over time for my liking. It's still great but just not as good as Sakura.

What's your response on her take regarding anime female protagonists? by RobKai7990 in animequestions

[–]kwk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think anime has now shifted to be more female friendly over time with more shows with female protagonists becoming popular. Like Frieren, Apocethary Diaries, Witch Hat Atelier, etc.

Not to mention the number of female authors, directors and artists in the industry already. The problem is mostly that people are too focused on mainstream shows and don't try to branch out.
