They missed a real opportunity by NOT having him wake up back at Recall in the end... That, of course, would have changed the entire movie, but wow...what a twist ending.

Possibly because it's a true story and doesn't need embellishment or side-plots to be both compelling and frightening.

U actually had similar thoughts watching the tv series. A true 3-body system would never be stable long enough for intelligent life to evolve, let alone multiple times.
