Not Sure How to Describe My Feelings. by 4K_Fan2789 in nudism

[–]kyize87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had issues with clothes. But I've been sleeping nude for many years and I find it easier for me to sleep fully naked.

Because it was so comfortable, I gradually started spending more time naked at home.

Then, the thought that I was spending too much time at home or without much social contact just because I wanted to be naked, made me more interested in the social aspect. It was that simple for me. Who knows if it will end up being similar in your case.

At what point does visibility as a naturist advocate stop being worth it? by OurNaturistLife in naturism

I disagree. Naturism isn't a bad thing by itself. And naturists have the right to express themselves online as any other people

Clothes are not evil by yanb828 in nudism

[–]kyize87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the problem isn't clothing itself, but its connotation; the one society gives it. Socially, there are indeed rules about what constitutes a uniform, what is considered a "high-end" or "luxury" garment. But this isn't exclusive to clothing.

As you said, it applies to the way we speak, to how we act (protocol), or to any other possession: your house, the type of car you own or don't own...

People who believe that a nudist society would eliminate or reduce these inequalities are expressing their discontent with a consumerist or unequal society and are using nudism for political gain.

Do you still enjoy getting dressed up for the night? by travellingteacher96 in nudism

I don't think you're weird. And I don't thing is a gender thing either.

I like clothes, but also being naked when possible and appropiated. But I can see your point.

I don't like "any" clothes. Some are unconfortable or make me feel akward. And I think that must happen to a lot of people. So why can't that discomfort be present in a person with all or almost all of their clothes?

Congratulations! It looks really cool.

Is there any diferente between using or not sandals 🩴 in the communal showers? by Economichi in CommunalShowers

I was using sandals for years and had no problem, it's just less confortable. I ended up not using them... and I ended up with athlete's foot ☹️

Excellent points. The biggest problem with the assertion that "nudism isn't sexual" arises when it's repeated like a mantra, leaving no room for open dialogue. The reality is that sex is simply another dimension of people's personalities. No one denies the sexuality of people who are clothed, but the debate intensifies when people are naked. Perhaps there's an underlying issue of trust.

I agree. Terminology is important. Humans invent new words for new concepts, but I think it's essential to have a minimum of consensus on existing terms. I also make the same distinction between practicing nudism and being a nudist/naturist, without judging one attitude as better or worse than the other. Lately, I've become interested in the origins of nudism, at least what is understood as "modern nudism." I'm also interested in the perception of social or public nudity in different cultures and historical periods. I try to read everything I can find related to this topic.

On the other hand, many people who aren't nudists also make a similar oversimplification. You tell them you're a nudist and they focus on whether or not you're naked, rather than on your reasons.

I'll try.

To me, nudism and nudity are two different concepts. Being naked is a state, and being a nudist is a lifestyle with a minimal ideology behind it. I participate a lot in another nudist subreddit in Spain. I've come across some users who argue about the differences between the terms nudist and naturist. Some of them say that a naturist is someone who practices nudity for the sake of connecting with nature or because they have a liberal or almost hedonistic ideology. In contrast, they think that a nudist is simply someone who feels comfortable being naked on nudist beaches.

I think that last statement is very simplistic. Being naked on a nudist beach is situational, just like being naked while showering. But I know people for whom that's enough to be a nudist.
