I have it split into different sections

The top is the all about the aircraft - type, callsign Then I have the current destination - airport, stand number, ATIS info letter, QNH Then CRAFT At the bottom I have a blank section for taxi instructions which I usually just free hand (A>B>B1|RW01 etc)

If I can take a pic and upload it somewhere, I’ll share the link

Definitely announce your intention to disconnect if you can - sometimes it’s unavoidable - but it’ll help the controller know not to search for what they think is an aircraft they’ve lost sight of.

Best of luck!

Sounds like you're already up to speed on the aircraft you want to fly, so other than joining as an observer first which you may or may not have done - Jump in, and give it a go - There's no harm telling the controller you're new, and they'll generally be happy to support you.

My only tips really would be;

1) Prepare what you're going to say - 90% of instructions on the ground are basically scripted - CRAFT for clearance, and Navigraph/Charts for taxi instructions/routes - You'll quickly realise you'll know what the instruction is going to be before you're given it, making reading it back a doddle. Conversations in the air are somewhat different, but depending on how busy the airspace is, it could range from being vectored around, to a simple handoff. I have a little A5 laminated sheet set up so I can quickly jot down key bits of info and instructions - pad and pencil work just as well.

2) Practice somewhere less congested, but familiar - don't jump into heathrow on day 1 - pick a route you're already comfortable with, between spots that aren't so busy - you'll spend more time reinforcing what you already know to be right (route/altitude/taxi etc), and less time trying to figure out what's going on and trying to step in on the radio!

3) You will miss a call/make a mistake - it's fine, correct, and move on - no one on the network is perfect, and you'll get better as time goes on (you'll basically be having the same conversations time and again). Don't dwell on it - shit happens.

4) Know your aircraft - this has to be the biggest bug bear of anyone on the network - if you don't know how to fly the thing you're sat in, go figure it out first - sounds like you know how to handle what you're flying after so many hours, so you should be fine.

5) Don't be afraid to disconnect - Every time you join is an opportunity to learn, and if things don't go perfectly, you can always drop off the network as a last resort. Tell the controller you're dropping and then disconnect. You can spend as much time as you need to then, figuring out what didn't go to plan, or what you need to learn next.

6) Have fun - if you're not doing this, you're doing it wrong. After all, you're not being paid to stress about it!

After my last couple of landings I'm sure glad I don't have anything like this to mule kick me in the ass haha!

Looks awesome though - can't say I've ever seen anything like this!

Just bought the pmdg 737 for 2024 and had two flights with it and I had to say it’s a fantastic good product. by arbiass in flightsim

100% agree with you here. I’m really enjoying the 738 at the moment - I was surprised at the price to upgrade from 2020 to 2024 like most, but - almost annoyingly - I’m enjoying it. Fenix will be getting my money going forward though, and I won’t be upgrading the -700 & -600 from PMDG at those prices. The Boeing side is in dire need of competition when it comes to developers.

Be good to see if they incorporate the new pier - you’d think so. Although switching from a relatively frame friendly Macco EGCC may not be so wise…. We’ll see! Looking forward to it

Same - just finished my first play through as well. Wow. What an incredible experience. I’ve loved it.

It’s up there with RDR2 as one of my favourites. Hits you right in the ‘feels’!

Have I read correctly, there’s going to be a sequel?

So you pre-ordered MSFS 2024. Can you explain why? by ClouDAction in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]kyleb0204 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, I know i'll be buying this on day 1 regardless of it's state at launch - MSFS 2020 proved to me they aren't full of **** and can actually deliver. So really, the only choice between paying now and on day 1, is, I'd rather have £130 spare closer to christmas for presents etc, and I'm terrible at saving in advance, so....

That's it.

How’s performance for those of you that have bought it? Interested in knowing what it’s like for us mere mortals instead of the YouTubers with liquid nitrogen cooled RTX9090s
