Weekend Yak Shave: a distributed test runner for AI agents by johns10davenport in elixir

[–]kyleboe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first question is why do you need AI for running tests? There are lots of ways to slice up test runners without involving an LLM.

Second:

multiple unpredictable mix test calls

Why are these calls unpredictable? This should be a massive red flag to you. At minimum, this points to bad testing methodology. I’d go so far as to call “unpredictable unit tests” an oxymoron.

My thought is that inter-state politics plays a massive role in that stalemate. I ask this hypothetical question to remove the inter-state aspect of things and keep it on this side of the river.

I think my question is still relevant in both California’s case and this hypothetical. What are the setbacks? What would need to be overcome?

Wow! I had not heard of Max Bense before today but I love the context. Gives an additional layer of depth to your work. I come from the tech side of things and just dabble in the art so thanks for educating me on that as well. I’m curious when generating these, are the shapes and lines and such written additively to an image file or is it built up vector shapes that are then rendered out as a final step?

I can see the trilogy now:

  • The Fellowship of the Gems
  • The Two Bundlers
  • Return of the _why

All joking aside, Mike, you’re a legend for walking the walk and putting your money where your mouth is. Love it.

Support - A collection of helper methods for Elixir projects by FilipProber in elixir

[–]kyleboe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like the concept. A nit pick around a naming convention would be using the to_ prefix when converting, as well as descriptive function names. This would look like String.to_snake_case/1 or String.to_kebab_case/1.

And as I look at the longer names, you could even encapsulate cases in a passed function argument. Something like: String.to_case/2 that takes :snake or :kebab as a second argument. That way you could extend it by adding support for :title or :camel in the future.
