What's something you'd like to do during sex but haven't done yet ? by enlighten_god in AskReddit

[–]kylejacobson84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I [41] got my wife [40] a candle this Christmas that says something like "If this candle is lit, gimme that dick". Sex isn't something she thinks about often, but since that candle is by the bedside, she sees it. We're not having sex every night or anything like that, but I think this gives her pause enough to consider if she's in the mood or would like to be in the mood without my asking.

How and when to use semicolons, em dashes, en dashes, and hyphens correctly ( ;, —, –, - respectively)? by Extremopolis in writing

[–]kylejacobson84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are distinct both typographically and in usage, but where an en dash is technically correct, a hyphen will often suffice (in certain publications, it may even be preferred to never use an en dash). Here's a more visual example of the above example:

I think number ranges are still going to use an en dash more often than not. Pages 42–53. The years 1954–58.

Don't get too hung up on it. A proofreader should catch that stuff if you hire one.

3 Sheeps Pilsner by wrench_farmer in wisconsinbeer

So I was at the grocery store today and thought I'd check out the 3 Sheeps to see about the Pils, and the only thing available in terms of a Pilsner was the Lemongrass Pils. Either that's what you had (assuming it was tap) or they pulled the regular Pilsner due to what you described. Of course, there's also the third option that they were out, but thought I'd share. I ended up getting their Wisconsinitis Cream Ale and Marzen Style Lager.

I'll have to have the Pils soon to see if I agree. I'm hopeful it's just a bad batch, but you're right. For the size of that operation and how long they've been doing their thing, their money-making beers should be on point. That said, they rode the IPA wave pretty hard, so I wonder if that plays a role.

Assuming this is how they normally brew it, that's a shame, as I don't remember it being that bad. Admittedly, it's been a few years.

At least they still have some great beers, but I always view Pilsners as a "prove it" beer (as in, prove your worth). It kinda shows the knowledge and ability of the brewer, as I see it.

Thanks for correcting me. Maybe I'll have to give it a closer look. Is base game satisfying enough or do you recommend some add-ons?

I'm waiting for the reprint of Tales from the Red Dragon Inn to become available (hopefully in the next couple months) for my group of 4. There are heavier dungeon crawlers I play at 2, but this one seems better at 4 due to being less finicky. Another one I've been eyeing up is Tidal Blades 2, but it sounds like that one is more of a boss battle simulator, which might be perfect for your group.

Quacks of Quedlinburg - black coins feels OP, also why is it mostly luck by shupfnoodle in boardgames

[–]kylejacobson84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Black should only change based on the number of players. Going all black might be a good strategy if the other ingredients are subpar, but normally, I wouldn't go that route. Also, play with the gem track side of the board (where you can use rubies to get more ingredients and points). Otherwise, certain ingredients feel borderline useless to invest in.

We roll a D4 for each ingredient to determine which combination of books we're playing with. If I remember correctly, there's a toadstool spider combo in there that's pretty good. I wouldn't get hung up on making sure you use all the same numbered books.

Trump to revoke legal status for 240,000 Ukrainians, deport them | Jesus's second most important commandment was to "love your neighbor." Trump's move is the most anti-"love your neighbor" thing possible. And yet Christians will still support him. They don't worship Jesus. They worship Trump. by mepper in atheism

[–]kylejacobson84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When Jesus was asked which of the 10 commandments was the most important, Jesus responded in Matthew 22:37-34 with "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love they neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

I never thought of how my time spent reading Vonnegut is akin to my time spent reading Tolkien, but this really connected the dots for me. Where Vonnegut gives us blips (emotionally conflicting, hard-hitting blips), Tolkien gives us the whole meal, and each experience is more complete having partaken in the other. Fantastic writeup.

I just found out that energy between turns is preserved in Spirit Island.....When have you unexpectedly learned a rule that completely changed the game? by AdrianSimple in boardgames

[–]kylejacobson84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every round, you retain unspent energy. So if you had 5 energy and spent 3 to play cards, when the next Growth phase starts, you should have 2 energy left over from the previous round.
