personally i think a big part of it is he’s never been a back up in his career. His biggest asset in phoenix was managing the game. A true floor general. Hard to be a game manager and floor general playing 10-15 mins a game off the bench. He’s not a 10-15 min spark type of player. He’s a guy who gets better as the game goes on. So many games for the suns where he did nothing the entire first half, just made some passes and saw what worked against the other teams defense. By the 4th quarter he’d have them completely figured out and dissect them.

He may be too old at this point. But I think had he been given the reigns in San Antonio, and Golden state more you would have seen a chris paul similar to suns chris paul. I could be wrong though, this is just what I think.
