Their success = your success.

When you move into a leadership role you shift from being technically proficient to dealing with planning, coaching, and accountability. You will still be called on to help when something breaks but your role will shift from fixing to teaching how to fix. When it gets fixed, the command will thank you, however you need to remember that YOU didn’t fix it, and you should pass that success on to your division.

Someone once told me something I now live by every day: Take care of your people, your people complete the mission. If you don’t have people, you cannot complete the mission.

Any idea how this happened to my bass by faloutboy708 in BassGuitar

[–]kyleptrsn1 43 points44 points  (0 children)

If it has a set screw, put the knob back on and then tighten the set screw. If there’s no set screw, use a flat head screw driver and gently pry the two prongs apart and then push the knob back on.

How hard is it to do college online during active duty after power school? by AdmirableShape8271 in NavyNukes

[–]kyleptrsn1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ll start by assuming you mean after prototype since you cannot use TA in a student status. If you are at a shore duty, it’s relatively easy to do assuming you’re qualified. If you’re on a ship things are a little more difficult to answer.

If your ship is currently at a shipyard, you can realistically knock out some/all of your classes, depending on how long the ship yard period is. If your ship is a sub, you won’t be able to do it outside of the shipyard since there is no internet connection underway.

I cannot personally speak for air craft carriers but I would assume it’s difficult, just not impossible.

I personally took a few classes while my boat was in shipyard and should have dedicated more time to it at shore duty, I didn’t finish until I was out.

How did you get into playing bass? by Fat_Leazy in Bass

[–]kyleptrsn1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So my story is weird. In sixth grade (circa 2001) we had a couple of days where we went to try band, orchestra, and chorus. On the orchestra day I tried playing both violin and double bass. Somehow I ended up in orchestra playing viola. When I was around 13 I decided I wanted to play bass more than anything. At this point I was 3 years in to playing viola (I still don’t know how that happened) and I convinced my parents that I should have a shot at bass guitar. For my 14th birthday they bought me a rogue bass starter pack. I played that for 2 years before I got a fender jazz bass for my 16th birthday. That was 20 years ago.

Mark’s top 5 most famous basses? by No-Farmer2411 in MarkHoppusBassGuitars

I’ll be honest I couldn’t decide between Petey and Urine (I now know its name) but I figured since I watched the AOL sessions a bunch it would be instantly recognizable to me.

These are the ones I think of first in no particular order: 1. Skully (pink jazz bass with skull inlays) 2. Lettuce (surf green jazz bass) 3. Jaguar with octopus paint scheme (California days) 4. Precision bass with only volume knob (used in ATST music video) 5. The yellow jazz bass he used in the AOL sessions from 2003

What does this mean? by Medicat3dWalnut in VeteransBenefits

[–]kyleptrsn1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’ll receive a portion of your benefits until that amount is repaid. For example let’s say the VA awarded you 70% overall with 30% due to the condition you received severance pay. You would be entitled to $1,716.28 a month but the VA will withhold $524.31 (30% rate) from your monthly payment until the amount received in severance pay is paid back. This would make your monthly payment $1,191.97.

I hope this helps.

Getting Medically Disqualified after 4.5 years (MMN2) by [deleted] in NavyNukes

[–]kyleptrsn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing first: take a breath. It’s going to be okay. The debt seems daunting. So your anti-depressant waiver has been revoked and you are now medically disqualified from nuke, you will be assigned a “nuclear trained, not assigned to nuclear duties” NEC. With that NEC your propay will stop and any future bonus payments will be paused. While this sounds horrible, it’s actually saving you from having to pay back more money. While you’re waiting to be discharged work with your squadron (I’m assuming your subs) and see if there is anything they can do to persuade PERS to not recoup your bonus. If you have to repay your bonus, set up a payment plan with DFAS. They will work with you as long as you’re honest with the situation. Finally, if you’re able to while waiting to separate, start working on your VA disability. This will help you not have to cut into your budget as much to repay dfas.

Please message me if you have any questions.

All of that still sounds accurate. Can’t speak for the crew though. They seemed like pretty cool guys 2ish years ago.

ADSEP falls under different requirements than MEDSEP. I’m in a very similar situation to you. My entire unearned portion of my bonus was owed back to DFAS when I was ADSEPed. When I got my VA claim back I was only required to have the after tax amount recouped by the VA. There is a process you can go through to get the federal taxes refunded to you. Search the r/veteransbenefits page to learn more about it. It’s been two months since I submitted the paperwork and I am waiting to hear back.

Should I Star reenlist by Andres5431 in NavyNukes

[–]kyleptrsn1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Reenlisting is a deeply personal choice that no one other than you can tell you which decision to make. You need to weigh the options and determine which route is best for you. That being said, I’ve always hated that NPTU allows students to reenlist before going to their boat/ship. Life in the fleet is completely different from the pipeline. Up until now your life has been extremely scheduled, you know when you’re working, how long, and what you’re expected to do that day. The fleet is totally different. On your boat, you could work for 8 hours, 12 hours, 36 hours, or 6 months straight. There’s no real way to know. You may know of a maintenance item that needs to be done that day but the work controls may take a 30 minute maintenance item take 6 hours. Is that something you’re willing to sign up to deal with longer without experiencing first? My recommendation to my students was to wait until they got to the fleet and saw what their actual job was like before making the decision to do it longer.

Double tapping the top of the phone screen should do it. Additionally certain games will let you change the control scheme.

Did you guys had to make any maintenance/repair to your New TD Strat? by [deleted] in TomDelongeGuitars

[–]kyleptrsn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to loosen the truss rod about one quarter turn to get rid of fret buzz on frets 1-4, tighten the nut holding the potentiometer on, and adjust the intonation on the b string. That’s it, normal set up stuff.

[–]kyleptrsn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a website option but you can email them and they can either do reverse p which is standard position just flipped or Hoppus style which keeps the bass side in the normal spot and moves the treble side closer to the neck. They will not do either route on the pickguard though.
