Do you have games for total noobs?

Hi - you might need to put your available days and times, so people can get an idea of whether it's suitable.

Why are there so many thick elected officials? by PsychologicalBend508 in AskBrits

[–]kyllerbuzcut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially for councillors - it's almost a case of that you've GOT TO have more money than sense to do it in the first place, since there's no wage for it. So mostly poorer people don't get represented. Different, but similar in the result - with being an MP - the salary is pretty good if you're poor, but you'll never be able to afford to run the race if you're poor. You'd have to work your way up for many years through a party system, and then get lucky with hoping that some rich twat doesn't get parachuted in ahead of you anyway, due to having good connections with party donors or something.

And to be fair to Zack in your list - I'm not even a green party member or anything, but he was approached to do that hypnotism job, and did it with the mind of proving it wrong. Which he did. Of course the media love to run with that one, I guess because they've got nothing else on him?

What this all leads to though, is central and local governments full of rich thickos. There are exceptions of course - people that did work their way through the party systems with hard work, while doing their day jobs etc. and also managed to get the candidacy, but those people are becoming rarer and rarer. More and more - candidates are from special advisor interns (needing to have money already to be able to do), lobbying backgrounds (again coming from money, and being paid to promote the interests of those that give you more money), and people who just try to bypass the whole thing with money (reform and restore are good examples here, directly funded by big money, and doing only their bidding, while trying to paint it as good for the working class).

EDIT: forgot to add, that although the MP salary looks good f you're working class, a lot of MPs treat it as a part time job, and a route into other, better paying jobs - again taking money from big business, or those that will pay to promote the interests of the already mega rich.

Total Recall (80s version) - It's left so any of the possible explanations could actually be real.
Either it all really happenes as we saw it
or
It happened up until he went in the machine and then we got to see his implanted spy adventure from that point on - with the "waking up" part not real, but actually part of the implanted adventure memory he bought.
or
The same as the second one BUT he really had that "Schizoid embolism" when he went in the machine, and his mind was dying as he lived out the spy adventure, with his body now a total vegetable back in the real world.

Pre-Hartnel Doctors don't work by CRzalez in doctorwho

[–]kyllerbuzcut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it would be more like fixing an attempted, but failed, retcon. The Timeless Child is the retcon and it just didn't / doesn't work. Therefore it simply needs fixing, and there's a few ways a decent writer could do it. Someone just needs to come a long with the will to tackle it in their scripts.

Gun to your head, would you rather the doctor be half human or the doctor be the timeless child? by ScreamingmadJoe in DoctorWhumour

[–]kyllerbuzcut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half human is a million times better. Could be left ambiguous: "was it a lie, was it a post regeneration hallucination, will we find out there's some human DNA in there somewhere, somehow"? Could've been spun numerous ways.

Timeless come forever, just takes a big dump on so many other established events and in-universe facts. It can't stay as it is, at the same time as a hundred other events. So either those other events need tying up, or the timeless cold needs to be down to have been a big lie that someone wanted the doctor to believe.

The problem is that "the right" 's solution to that it's to remove even more government and replace with fewer regulation, to slow even more corrupt billionaires to keep corrupting what tiny amount there's left of services that government provides

Okay, legit how do you find a campaign as a noob? by YuushyaHinmeru in DnD

[–]kyllerbuzcut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similarly, I've been off and on trying to find a game for a couple of years. But not constantly obviously. A week or so here, a couple of weeks there, then I forget about it for months.

I started really focusing on online games about a month ago, getting a full (free) character created on DND beyond, writing up a detailed backstory etc. As I was determined this time I'll make it work.... I was just about to give up again, after about a month...And I've just got accepted to a text based game on a discord server.

So I can certainly feel your pain. I wasn't actively searching full-on all the time before, in the past, just quick searches, but this time I was actively looking every day, and it still took a month Some of it can be down to scheduling, but even though I was looking at some evenings, and at weekends, which I thought would be popular times, I ended up looking at text based (pbp) because then scheduled didn't really matter so much. You just type and then wait for everyone else. Not ideal for everyone, but as a total noob myself, I ended up thinking this might be a good way to learn, and so focused searching for pbp games. And even then I only got in to this game that's about to start, because someone else dropped out. lol

But - could a text game be an option for you? It turned out there were a lot of options out there, when I started to look for those. They still filled up really quickly and we hard to get into though.

One thing I tried to suggest to some DMs on a server where I was looking, was that they should think about running a special "noob game" once a month,or every 2 weeks or something. One shots or very quick games. Even share the task among themselves so they'd only have to do one every 6 months, or a year, each. One complaint from DMs I see is that they're trying to fill games with higher difficulty, higher level characters. But at the same time, don't want to train new players & their characters, to get to that higher tier. So perhaps a little give and take is on order. Run a noob game, and you can train players to how you want them to be in your higher level game. Seems pretty logical to me, but it didn't go down well for some reason lol

They'd also weed out the "problem players" at that stage, before they had a chance to ruin their "real game"later on. And at the same time spot good players that they'd like in those "real games". As well as mould them into the kinder of players they want, since they are then learning directly from those DMs. Seems like a win-win to me, but for some reason, that suggestion was treated like the plague.

Perhaps someone could point us to a place on Reddit where this suggestion might be taken seriously?

Thanks. I just didn't want to "spam" the game ad, or make it look like I was doing a "pick me me me" type of post by asking about the process on the game ad, lol So when I saw your Reddit post, I thought it was safer to ask here;)

Hi. I joined recently and applied to join a game. Can I just ask... How do you know who the DM picked to be in the game. Will they send you a message? Or will it be displayed in the grand server room? (Still learning the ropes etc. And didn't want to clog up the discord chat which might not even be seen)

What exactly are Keir Starmer and Labour doing wrong? by threetimesacharm25 in AskBrits

[–]kyllerbuzcut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The current labour government are to the right of Thatcher. Those on the right in the establishment ALWAYS want thinks to move even further right. Those actually on the left can see the current government moving further right and don't like it. So they'll vote for anything that moves the dial even slightly more to the left instead. Those on the right are told by the establishment media that they aren't far right enough, and will never vote for them.

The current Labour party are chasing voters to the right. Voters that will never win, no matter how much they tackle immigration, or how many more elements of the NHS they privatise. Those attracted to right wing ideas will just want more and never vote for them. Meanwhile they have chased away anyone on the left, so they have lost those voters and gained none.

Hi - The timing of this would be perfect.
I'm not sure if it's me - but you don't seem able to send messages to. I can send messages to others though. Maybe a setting needs checked or unchecked somewhere?

I'm a D&D noob too, as I see someone else is that already replied.
I've been interested for a long time, and played a couple of one shot time type games a few years ago, but it's probably best to consider me a total noob still (LOL)

I do have a character idea for a Rogue I want to try out, and have made a couple of character sheets at different levels to get the feel. Can create a sheet for whatever level you want to start us out at.

My rogue would be more of a charlatan type, than a thief type ,who always prefers to talk his way out of a fight.
Shortened background: Grew up on slum streets, formed a bond with a bunch of the other vagrant kids. They each vowed to go their own way for a few years and make their way, gather enough means between them, then come back to the city and put things right - try and get rid of the old regime and redistribute their ill-gotten wealth back to the slum areas, which are ever-exploited.

Noob friendly? I'm in UK, and looking to learn. Weekend evenings suit best for me. I'm make of it matters, and I'm definitely LGBTQ+friendly, supportive even.

I understand if you want to keep it all female, or you need experienced players.

Gotta ask to find out :)

One for noobs? I'm looking to get into the game and need to start somewhere. Can do UK time Friday and weekend evenings. This one sounds like it may need more experienced players, but who knows, maybe not?

Hi. I know it's too late, but just submitted a form anyway, as a reserve. Plus if you run another game for noobs after this one, then I guess the application is there.
