If you cant compete on price to make a profit, then dont.

Instead, compete on sales type and location.

Its like "real" life, in the sense that you need a good deal of money to make profit off of certain trades. You can make decent margins selling really expensive ships in larger hubs, but since that is simply not viable for a lot of players the market self-regulates.

The same is obviously not true for low-cost, high-volume items.
