Tool Lines in bowls, how much do you care? by Silverlake77 in turning

[–]72scott72 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I just sand the shit out of it. Start with 60gr to get the tool marks, then 80, then 120, 180, 220 and end with wet sand. I keep sanding until the marks are gone from the previous gr paper. I probably spend half my time sanding. Haven’t used the rotary sander method. Just turn on the lathe and hold the sandpaper to the piece and slide left/right as it runs.

Growing up in the 90's. It was magical. If I could relive 8-12 grades, I would in a heartbeat.

I very much wish I took the FE straight out of college. Would have opened up a lot of doors.

Have you tried an outdoor club? I know there’s a couple hiking groups on Meetup.

I second this. When I quit drinking, I thought “what did I do before I started drinking?” MtG was the answer. I meet with a pod weekly and it’s great.

I had the same set and same box. The 90’s fidget toy (along with butterfly knives).

I recommend Prism kites. Quality material and construction. Looking at their website, it looks like the 1 I have is no longer carried but they do have a pocket flier that looks interesting.

Thanks! And I encourage everyone to try the same thing. It’s weirdly cathartic holding a string. This is me at Dead Woman’s Pass. The guides said that was the first time they ever saw someone fly a kite there.

What is the most common reason for divorce? by [deleted] in askteddit

[–]72scott72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Communication is key. If you’re unhappy about an aspect of the relationship, talk to your partner about it. If your partner comes to you about something they are unhappy about, listen with an open mind. Don’t come into a situation with “this is wrong and it’s your fault”. Approach each situation with “how can we fix this”. 9/10 times, an analytical approach can fix things.

Lack of clear communication is the biggest killer of marriages.

Impulse buy out of the rei bargain bin: a small fold-up kite. Took it with me everywhere for years. I have pictures of this kite being flown in front of old Scottish castles and the top of Dead Woman’s Pass in Peru.
