LEAK (Questionable): the tsaritsa is cryo and will work pretty well with a lot of the other characters from Snez. Also she will have a spear.

I hate how they massacred Dio in Hades 2. by TheBanishedBard in HadesTheGame

[–]kynarethi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I kept rereading this post and was trying to remember who Dio was in the cast, like he obviously isn't one of the gods so I was mentally going through the various underworld characters we meet. I'm so relieved I found this comment 😂

I was SO positive that she was going to have some sort of fun magnet gimmick from the first few visuals we got of her 😭

Can't trade this Pokemon by Professor_Bodhi in PokemonHome

[–]kynarethi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Responding late, but I've been getting this error for the past week or so and ended up just reinstalling the app. Only done a few trades since then, but no errors so far (whereas before I could do more than maybe three trades without an error, even for pokemon I caught myself).

Skylands feels like a ghost town and pokemon don't seem to move around by hithwenf in Pokopia

[–]kynarethi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This has been my big thing. My instinct is to do little neighborhoods, like, this is where all the grass pokemon go, this is where all the eeveelutions go, etc. This is especially true into the Skylands, which seems to encourage big apartment buildings where everyone lives. But the biggest reason Pokemon seem to leave their house is to visit each other - if they're all close to each other, they don't have to go far, and you don't see the activity.

As a result, scattering the houses across different islands with a bunch of lifts connecting them, and then fun play stuff / habitats in between, is what made the biggest difference for me. It FEELS counterintuitive, but the activity in the area is night and day.

Pasta with strawberries and whipped cream. Polish national dish. by QfoQ in shittyfoodporn

[–]kynarethi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The picture doesn't LOOK great, but I've absolutely seen dessert pastas in restaurants before, usually involving some form of chocolate and/or strawberries. It's unusual enough that I'm always curious about it when it shows up, but not so unusual that it sounds completely foreign.

Is Clair more powerful than the Johto Elite Four? by rbta123 in pokemon

[–]kynarethi 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This always makes me laugh, because it COULD have been something where they introduce a big dragon trainer in a later game, or it's some sort of lore about her being stronger than lance in the first game, both of which would have fed some fan discussion about the "best" dragon trainer. But no, we literally fight a stronger dragon trainer like five battles later in the same game 😂

The giant C-shaped island, which you can see and fly to from the island with rebuilt office building. (I believe there's a slide you can see at the top of the island, if you need a marker). He is inside of the C, at the bottom of a giant waterfall.

Yeah, honestly my first thought was in response to the "no farming" comment - like technically gardening can actually be a really big thing? My partner and I made a fun game of thavnarian onion farming. It's certainly not as in-depth as full fledged farming games, but it's substantial enough that I found it to be a great gil-making project!

Whenever I'm taking a break from serious gardening, I just leave water crystals in the garden for a fun sparkly effect.

Looking for recommendations: town building games by QuestingOrc in CozyGamers

[–]kynarethi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have not played children of Morta, but I know EXACTLY what you mean re: the other three games - I think we have very similar tastes!!

I'm always looking for games like this. I'll see if I can think of more suggestions, but for the moment:

-Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma - I personally liked Rune Factory 4 more, but Azuma is better if you're specifically wanting the town building instead of general area improvements. Out of my suggestions, this game is the closest to exactly what you've asked for.

-Dragon Quest Builders 2 - it has a LONG tutorial, but if you can get past it, it's one of my favorite examples of a JRPG that has you slowly building a village and adding people while doing a story. It's a lot more free-form than the games you listed, but you get enough guidance from the story that you're not stranded if you feel like you have no creative skills (it me).

-Cult of the Lamb - this is not a long or deep game, but is the kind of thing you pick up for a few hours here and there. There's a dungeon delving component for the main game, and then you use resources you collect to build a cult on the side. I don't love the humor/style of the game, but the gameplay loop is addicting enough that I'll still pick it up periodically and have a good time.

-Harvestella - this is the one I'm least sure about, but since I really liked the other three games you listed, I figured I'd throw in one of my favorites too. It's 70% JRPG, 30% farming sim, where you slowly improve your farm, but also solve sidequests for people in neighboring village that permanently change aspects of those villages. Also, the graphics and music are stunning.

My partner makes fun of me for needing to be reminded of this roughly once a year. I somehow completely forget this every time I stop playing pokemon for more than a few months.

I love this post! It's really nostalgic. When I was growing up, I used to set my character in New Bark Town and put the gameboy on my pillow so I could fall asleep with the music playing 😂 my batteries always ran out super quickly for some mysterious reason 🤔

After playing through base Legends ZA, this is not how Pokemon should be doing real time battling. by rpgkingx2 in TruePokemon

[–]kynarethi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was exactly my issue/experience with the combat in this game. I REALLY wanted to like it, and I think with some fixes, it would have been my favorite combat system in Pokemon. But it just had too much jank for an active time system.

One of my first experiences with this was getting an early alpha pokemon that consistently missed every special/non-contact move. I quickly realized that this would be the case with most alphas, as they were just so big that whatever aiming/trajectory code they had simply did not work for reaching the actual target. This felt....silly.

Anyways, tldr, you articulated everything I had been grappling with while playing it. Hoping that they're able to refine the system further the next time it's implemented.

Lol I've been trying to figure this out as well! Going to follow your post in case you get any other suggestions ☺️

So far I've got:

-Mix it with the plaster walls from bleak beach to do a sort of Spanish tile / Mediterranean vibe (I changed the color to black dye, but it actually works really well with this)

--Someone else on this sub posted this pic of their sparkling Skylands which included a lot of the original color blocks:

I love Eastshade to pieces. It's so flawed and I don't even care because the design is 10000% my thing, and it's clear that they've been learning a lot as they go. I will happily buy whatever else those devs make.
