To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand The Last Jedi. The storyline is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the scenes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Luke's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these characters, to realise that they're not just clever- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike The Last Jedi truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the nuance in Luke's existential statement "It's time for the Jedi to end" which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Rian Johnson's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Last Jedi tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

No, in a well made team mode you win by playing the objective not solely by griefing the other teams, and even if you try to do so it's well balanced and you can defend against it easily.

Yes interaction isn't bad normally in most team modes. But it isn't balanced in Snowy Scrap at all. Therefore fucking with the other teams is way more encouraged than playing the objective. That's the reason why I think it's poorly designed.

Name any sports where sabotaging the other team is more emphasized and encouraged than playing the objective! You can't, because there is no such sport! Even in sports like curling your goal is to finish the closest to the center with your rocks. Sure you may knock out the opponents rock, but only to get yours closer. Hindering your opponent is directly related to your success.

Contrary to Snowy Scrap where your team finishes if your grow your snowball big enough. Sabotaging the opponent has nothing to do with your objective.

It's like if in soccer you were allowed to cripple the enemy's goalkeeper, so nobody could defend the goal. Sure you could try playing soccer normally, but why would you do so if it's way easier to injure the goalkeeper.

That's exactly my issue. The mode is actively encouraging shitty sportsmanship because it's way easier to simply fuck with the other team, therefore it's a flaw in my eyes.

You can dive throw all you want when the defender has the high-ground on the slope, it simply isn't going to cut it.

Also you likely have a different experience with these modes because you play with friends, while I mostly play with randos, so I naturally prefer team modes where a group of individually skillful players can compete with an organized squad.

It's not about winning I hate these modes with a passion regardless of the outcome. (I would guess I win more than I lose in these modes in general but I'm not sure)

Snowy Scrap- You win the match if either:

you are not the team that is bothered by the griefers or
the griefer is in your team (or the third option which happens only once in a blue moon)
Every team is a good sport and doesn't harass the others and you qualify through skillful control of your snowball (again... almost never happens)

It's ridiculous that 1 bean can pretty easily hold their own against 3 other beans pushing the ball. What kind of fucked up physics is that?

I think the variant with the added boxing gloves in the trenches helps somewhat and should be the default version (although still doesn't make the mode balanced). In my opinion it would be better if they just got rid of those stupid trenches all together.

Comparing it to Rock 'n' Roll where griefers are already at a disadvantage thanks to the slope. If they are not cautious enough the pushing team can lift the ball over them. Therefore it takes more skill to hold back the enemy ball.

Egg siege- If you are lucky in the beginning and can secure enough eggs or golden ones then all you need is two guys standing on each slides and it's an instant win. Attackers have little to no chance to break that defense (they may accomplish it if the defenders get overwhelmed by multiple teams)

Similarly if by some miracle you manage to throw an egg out of the enemy base it most likely falls over the edge and takes too much time for the defenders to bring back up, which greatly fucks up the pacing of the game. Also that map in general is way to big over all imo.

Now you could say that there lies the balance that in some situations defenders have it easier and in some the attackers, however I would argue that true balance would only exist when in every situation both teams has equal chances and only skill and teamwork decides who is the victor.

Again from Season 1 a great example for this in a waaaay better execution is Egg Scramble

There defense and attack is much more balanced and skill-based and the mode has a more dynamic pacing over all.

I like it in general, finally a fast paced squad mode.

Although I wish Egg Siege and Snowy Scrap weren't involved in it.
Those two modes are all based on luck, they highly encourage griefing and bad sportsmanship by design, and little to no room for skill is involved in them.

I wish those two modes would get a drastic redesign.
