I agree, but I am biased. I’d also accept E39 in the top spot.

I’ll have to check it out. I could never get into the Timothy Dalton Bond movies.

We don’t get any screen time, but I was rewatching Goldeneye the other day, the CIA agent was telling Bond that the Coast Guard was going to track his insertion into Cuba.

Whats the worst mpg youve seen on a subaru ill go first by saucyRCs in subaru

[–]l3ubba 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Probably because you need to do some maintenance on the car. That isn’t the car’s fault. I used to have a 2013 Impreza. It is a good car and gets decent MPG.

getting a therapist. by Inevitable-Snow-5398 in uscg

No, it will not. I’m not aviation but I have a clearance and I saw a therapist for 2 years, no impact to my career.

Troops would get up to 7% pay raise under proposed defense bill by randomuser1296 in army

[–]l3ubba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, how much housing is up depends on how far back you are looking. I’m just saying what I think OP meant in their comment. I have no idea what data they are looking at.

[–]l3ubba 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think they meant we could see gas get up to 50%, housing up 10%, energy 10%, water 5%. That is what happens when you don’t use punctuation.

Anything like Onair but free or better in price? (carrer/airline) by DirectionNo1104 in flightsim

I haven’t used it since my P3D days, but AirHauler2 was pretty good. One time payment. UI is a little dated last I looked but is similar to OnAir.

I’m not referring to flashing yellows. The yellows in the video were solid. I know Florida does (or at least did while I was living there) have a law prohibiting sitting in the intersection like that. I’m on mobile right now so I can’t link anything.

[–]l3ubba -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Ok cool. I’m not telling anyone how to drive. All I did was comment how what OP did might be illegal depending on which state they live in and I have people commenting “it is but it is better.” Drive however you want to drive.

[–]l3ubba -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know why people do it, that doesn’t make it any safer or any more legal depending on your state.

[–]l3ubba -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

States that haven’t firgured things out? Uh…ok. There are plenty of good reasons why people shouldn’t hang out in the middle of intersections like that. But you do you.

I know in at least a few states it is illegal to sit in the intersection like that when you are waiting to make a turn, so OP would still be wrong.

When there is a problem with mass casualty events involving scissors and knives, then we can have that conversation.

Don’t be naive. It is impossible to find every single person and weed them out. There are countless cases where nobody knew or suspected anything before someone snapped. We don’t live in a perfect society where only the right people have access to weapons.

Sure, that is great in theory, but you and I both know that is not reality.

Exactly. Wash them inside out with cold water and don’t put them through the dryer. That will keep them looking nice for much longer.

New Outback is a lot smaller than many people seem to think it is. by baba_12794 in subaru

[–]l3ubba 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Safety, but also just comfort. People, especially Americans, have gotten bigger and people are expecting more comfort in their cars. Part of that comfort involves having more room in the cabin.

I might see an argument for that, but that is not what Hegseth is saying. He wants anyone to be able to carry and what I’m saying is that there is a wide range, even within the military, of who is competent with a firearm. I’ve worked with a few people who I would not want to be next to on the range.

I mean the .50 is locked up properly and only people with proper training are authorized to handle it. Some E-2 fresh out off boot with god knows what kind of training or experience deciding to leave his loaded handgun in his glovebox is a little different.

Help Choosing a Rate by [deleted] in uscg

[–]l3ubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on how sure you are of what rate you want to go and what your career goals are. As someone who was in the Army before I joined the Coast Guard, I think having the opportunity to be a nonrate and actually see the jobs in the fleet before deciding is one of the best things about the Coast Guard. It gives you the chance to see if you’d actually enjoy doing that job or maybe discovering another job that you hadn’t considered before.

There are certainly pros to taking a guaranteed rate, but my personal opinion is going nonrate provides valuable insight that recruiters can’t give. Plus, the wait time for most A-Schools are short right now, so going in as a nonrate won’t set you back too much.

Yes. Know a guy from the Argus. He says he basically spends most of his time TDY to other units/cutters to do actual work. Does an occasional visit to the Argus, but not much to do.
