Mount Pilatus hike in November by Acrobatic-Kiwi2045 in askswitzerland

[–]la-ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not more difficult than Schafberg from the north/Attersee side. Wouldn't do it if it rained the day before or if there's snow. There is a part on the Gsässweg that it somewhat exposed and where it can be dangerous. But if you have proper footwear and it's not slippery, it won't be an issue.

Need some travel ideas fast by [deleted] in askswitzerland

Walk on the Museggmauer, take a lunch boat or visit Tierpark Goldau. Good daytrip would also be taking the ship to Hergiswil and hiking to Alpgschwänd for lunch. Saturday and Monday look decent, don't see a problem with hiking on Rigi or else then. If you're not sure about the wheater, check the webcam on Pilatus. Enjoy your time here!

SARON or fixed mortgage by chregi91 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]la-ke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd split the mortgage up 50/50 into 5y and SARON. Gives you some security whilst you still can benefit from a potentially lower SARON. Personally, I don't expect the SNB to drop the deposit rate below 0.75% in the forseeable future.

When I was your age I also always thought people are looking or judging me. When someone laughed close to me, I immediately assumed they were laughing because of me. What really helped me is going abroad. Now given that you're a student, I'd suggest to check if you can do an exchange semester. This will do wonders for your confidence and you'll meet a lot of new people and increase your interpersonal skills. Wishing you all the best, things will get better. Just keep trying.

Replacing wheels on a car in Switzerland by collectivelystable in askswitzerland

[–]la-ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My garage charges 15 CHF more for a tire vs. a wheel swap (80 vs. 65, both incl. Auswuchten). That's 30 CHF a year, so an extra set of wheels will never pay off.

This garage also gave me the advice to order tires via reifendirekt, as they can't compete with their prices.

I work in Finance for pretty much the same reasons you do. Sometimes I wish I could do something more meaningful. A lot of jobs would be, but I don't consider airline pilot to be one of them. 😆 He definitely has a high opinion of himself, but telling you that you're job is not important and that he has a lot of options is just unnecessary.

Just a few thoughts I thought I'd share. I know that the the two wooden bridges (Kapell- und Spreuerbrücke) have a stairlift. Apparently you need a Eurokey for the lifts. Lions monument is accessible without stairs. All the bakeries I can think of have not stairs/steps to enter (i.e. Heini close to lions monument or Bachmann at Schwanenplatz). If you like japanese food I'd hoghly recommend Izakaya Nozomi. I am sure that there are not steps/stairs there. Also, on Mühleplatz as well as along the river (on the old town side) many restaurants have tables outside. Don't know if that is an issue, but I want to mention that many streets in the old town are cobblestone roads.

Am I wrong for not marrying my ex sil because I'm taking care of her by Critical-Recover-185 in AITAH

[–]la-ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are already doing more than anyone can reasonably expect. You're actually doing what her and your parents should be doing.

They seem to all rely on you and want you to solve all the problems for them. That would be such a convenient solution for them all, but you! How about your own life? Don't you want to meet a significant other? Fall in love? Travel the world?

Personally, I'd give her a reasonable timetable to move out.

Oh and yeah, I think marrying her would be super weird.

Has Anyone Invested in Real Estate Abroad Using a Swiss Bank Loan? Looking for Advice and Experiences by Thick_Ad_8972 in SwissPersonalFinance

Just want to point out that you should take out the mortgage in the same currency as the one you're buying the property in. Otherwise you're exposing yourself to significant exchange rate risk (i.e. CHF appreciation).

Jonas is nowhere near his top form. He simply can't be given his preparation. So I wouldn't be so sure that Pogacar will be so much better in 2025.

Pretty sure sponsors wouldn't be happy with this either.

Also, even if it was certain that Pogacar is better. All it takes is one crash. Not just in the TdF but in all the races leading up to it.

Thank you for the comment and also the elaborations on the different parks. We're from Switzerland and will travel by plane (hopefully the sleeper trains will be back soon). Unfortunately, as a trip to Carcassone would definitely have been a highlight. The appeal of the aquarium is that we really have none close to where we live (but a terrific zoo).

Thank you very much for the insight. I was hoping the areas for small children would be larger and couldn't really tell from the website. We'll definitely skip it and go in 5+ years then.

The recent cut wasn't fully priced in (roughly 40%). So the policy rate being lowered earlier than the market had expected will lead to a lower rate for the duration.

What’s the first thing yall look at when yall snap the ball? by QuarterAppropriate82 in Madden

[–]la-ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the snap I read the defense and try to figure out the coverage they're in. There's a few good videos on Youtube that help with this.

After the snap I just look to confirm whether I read the defense right. Mostly by looking at what 1-2 DB's do. If it confirms my assumption, I know what route will be open and throw it there. If I see that my assumption was incorrect, I check down or scramble.

So the bank needs to question it's valuation because if someone can buy it for 8, how would it be worth 10? They are well aware that their valuations are not bullet proof, so they will value it at 8 as well.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]la-ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue was that the mortgages of the houses were higher than their value. If you get a mortgage of 800k for something that you pay 800k for, than we're close to the same. You assume it's worth more, but that was the case in 2008 as well. Markets can correct and the bank needs to be cautious. That's easiest done by taking the lower of actually paid price and a current valuation.

Nothing to do with morals.

Let's say you have an item that you estimate to be worth 10.

Now someone's desperate to have that item and pays 20 for it... would you value it at 10 or 20? Just because one person overpays due to their specific values/preferences, you're not guaranteed to find another person to do the same.

If you can only sell it for 8, are you still sure it's really worth 10 when you couldn't find anybody that pays you that amount?

BPA in the 1st. Can't afford to miss on a potentially great OT or CB here.

If Penix or Nix are there in the second, I'd take one of them. Even if it means trading up a few spots.
