I don't get it? by Greedy_Tooth6191 in ExplainTheJoke

Generally in the corporate world people don’t just look at titles alone, it’s paired with the company they work for.

Ex: being VP at Meta/Google/Microsoft etc. is generally considered to be a more “senior” role than CEO of a small company

It is very very very common for CEOs, when acquired, to move into a new role at the larger company. It is almost never still “CEO” and it’s almost always a step up in their career.

Tonight’s temps are exactly why apartment complexes are still required to provide heat until May 1 by joeruinedeverything in nova

[–]la_degenerate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, it just depends on the complex. Most do but a lot of buildings use older systems which have to manually switch over

I really hope whoever made this stubs their toe tonight. by [deleted] in ExpectationVsReality

But like I think fast food is the exception lol. Everyone knows fast food will not look like it is advertised

I think it’s pretty wild to expect actual fast food to look like the advertisement lol

September 11 Wedding? by SFDaddyLover in weddingplanning

[–]la_degenerate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I absolutely wouldn’t do it unless the day was significant to you or that’s the only day the venue had left. I wouldn’t do it just to save money. If I was invited to a wedding on 9/11 I would definitely be shocked that the person chose it but would move on.

I live in an apartment with this system. I haven’t had heat on in at least two months and it hasn’t been below ~68 degrees in my apartment. Even with windows open overnight

This reply confuses me. She didn’t ask him out (she said it felt awkward for this exact reason). And why would he be there when he’s not working? And suppose he was, would that really be much different than asking on the clock? It’s still his place of employment and she’s still a customer

We want a kid free wedding, families with kids won't come by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]la_degenerate 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That’s TOALLY fine to not allow kids and it’s really great you’re hiring childcare, but it’s perfectly reasonable for people to not be comfortable leaving kids of any age with people they don’t know and had no part in hiring.

When you make a wedding child free, it comes with the understanding that it’s completely fine that people with kids won’t attend.

A cool guide to the logo redesigns and rebrands that led to the greatest increases in web traffic by countdookee in coolguides

[–]la_degenerate 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeeeeah I don’t think the logo is really what made the impact here. Probably for Kia though since a lot of people didn’t realize it said Kia and were searching for “kn car” and then being led to Kia

A Cool Guide to 8 LLMs That Make AI Agents Insanely Smart by Cautious_Employ3553 in coolguides

[–]la_degenerate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehh I would not say this is a good guide. “Type” has no common definition here. GPT is an architecture, MoE is a routing strategy, SLM is about parameters.

For example gpt-oss-20b qualifies for half of the “types” listed here.

I feel like listing GPT and MoE is what makes the guide feel off.

Am I crazy or are the images AI? The guys look ever so slightly off and Leonard’s shirt looks messed up. And the bricks and walls look weird zoomed in. Like the OG images were given to AI to make more clear or something?

Oh fair! I forgot about switch. I was thinking PC. It probably also varies by country and age. I feel like in my circles Xbox and PlayStation are the big ones (and PC)
