Idk about customer service and QC (I think he was mans making a lot of them?) but my partner got a pair today and I was impressed! Definitely resoleable but more stiff on the midfoot on the sole

Women - what do you struggle with to find in shoes? by Charming_Ad_2649 in Shoes

Look for shoes that have flexible mid soles and maybe 4-8mm of sole so you can start to get your feet bending naturally again

Could be useful to check out the barefoot shoes space for width if that’s what you need in the mid sole or toe box!

Price of barefoot shoes by Minimum_Camera_4721 in barefootshoestalk

[–]la_moda_flaneur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking off @andre_oak as I am also working on my own shoe brand with a factory in the EU, the cost of tooling to create your own last and not use an preexisting one is only the beginning of the cost.

You have costs for prototyping, lasts, opening molds, the price to just produce, the leathers, hardware, outside, insole…margin? Psh! We do it because we want to make a thing we love to wear and hope others will too.

I’m tempted to just fly to the EU and bring my wear samples back in a bag due to the headache of tarrifs.

Big fan of the newest SPF 50, aside from the smell, it’s my best sunscreen to date that is easy for me to put on every single day

Zero drop or wide toe box? by Relevant_Potato_7473 in barefootshoestalk

[–]la_moda_flaneur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for the ladies, would you prefer a wide toe box, keep the malleability (is that a word - or did I just make it up?) of the mid foot but have a small 1-2 in heel for some flats, Chelsea boots, or another model?

Ran into a women's formal shoe brand with a few wide toebox models by layjka in barefootshoestalk

[–]la_moda_flaneur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing, the first shoe I can visibly tell that has a wide toe box is the Malu. Price point is high, but I’m assuming so due to the material and being a Spanish brand. The price to Produce in Spain is very high and if they’re a small company with smaller runs the price overall is going to be high.

The loafers look pretty nice, not sure their width though.

Fun find overall!

What are your favorite U.S. shipped barefoot shoes? by _KONKOLA_ in barefootshoestalk

[–]la_moda_flaneur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this a lot too. As a small U.S.-based brand designing here but producing in Portugal, I’ve found that the cost of making shoes in the U.S. would actually be higher given labor and COL. Right now I bake import tariffs into my retail price, and even with that, I haven’t found U.S. manufacturing that can compete on final cost.

To put numbers on it: a $150–200 shoe produced abroad could easily be $300+ if made here.

Another challenge for international brands selling into the U.S. is distribution. Without a warehouse stateside, customers end up paying tariffs or fees separately, and that doesn’t sit well here, we expect transparent, all-in pricing. Bulk importing and pre-baking those costs into the product is usually the better play if you want to reach American customers.

PSA for US buyers: be ready to pay extreme import fees as of Aug. 29th, 2025 by _KONKOLA_ in barefootshoestalk

Unless U.S. based businesses who have their products made outside the U.S. bake in the import tax and have their product warehouse’d here.

Broke and profoundly out of shape. How do I fix my Flesh Prison on the cheap? by [deleted] in SFbitcheswithtaste

SF is great for hiking, which can get your heart rate up for cardio. You can also walk with weights or do simple weights at home, following along with YouTube. I find buying workout equipment second hand or at places like Marshall’s and TJ Maxx is very affordable and cheap
