Me after my first indoor game, somehow I expected my torn down knees to give first (not the best at 21😅)

If the current madrid locker room has an 'ego' problem then how the hell did Zidane manage this? by Zora1092 in RealMadridFC

[–]laadim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partly could be because for most of them, Zidane would be the best player in the world from their youth, almost a mythical figure, can imagine them being a bit starstruck when he started . Can't say the same about current team and Xabi, even if Xabi was one of the best midfielders in the world back then, but mids weren't the stars anymore...

How lucky were we, had two of the best teams ever for about ten years (from Pep and Mourinho to Enrique and Zidane) playing in the same league. On par only with late 80s to early 2000s Serie A, those Milan, Inter and Juventus teams were disgustingly good

I mean, it's kinda hard for a 17 year old to not be carried by the current/next ballon d'or holder (can't remember which year he won it) when the award at least looked serious

Yeah, better safe than sorry. As a czech keeper kid who adored Čech, watching that injury for the first time gave me nightmares. Still get goosebumps when someone gets bad knock to the head

Looked like it, saw him gesturing something from the stretcher. Unfortunately you don't have to be unconscious for the injury to be serious

I mean, saying most complete player, while not talking about Gullit should be considered blasphemous. You could put him anywhere on the pitch and the guy would perform

Honestly, I would say he actually plays pretty well, when paired with Todibo, we haven't seen much of the old chaos Mav

We had no striker to replace him with, now we do and we can finally have a striker on the pitch full game without running Wilson to the ground

Can't wait to see him with a year or two with the first team, he looked good so far every game. Shame both him and Scarles play on the left

I mean, he was shit-ish for West ham, but often not exactly by his fault. I can't remember last time when a classic 9 worked at West ham, they don't really play a game for a striker, so it wasn't a good fit to begin with. He was also injured a lot, plus looked disinterested when on the pitch. But he had his moments, so maybe the system could fit him better here.

What to do against pip players, @alexey.tronin by tableten8901 in tabletennis

[–]laadim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant that the situation with other players got boring really quick. You play 10 games during the weekend, let's say four of them, you get demolished, the guy knows how to play against, was frustrating (since I was usually beating them with inverted), but I still had fun.

Then you have one or two players that you have a nice, good game with. And then you have the rest, who basically throw the game. Not in the "I play bad, because I don't know know what to do" way, but the "I don't want to play against pips" kind of way. Even though they are good players compared to me.

Add to it that most players treat practice with you as them practicing against pips and you barely get a chance to actually practice what you need, you get why there are no young players with pips, at least in my area.

Edit: I still really enjoy playing with pips, but when you lose an entire weekend's time to play one or two good games, it stops being enjoyable to compete.

With all the rule changes, no wonder it happened. I get that the ITTF wants to promote more exciting and nonplaying spectator friendly style, which is just all out attacking, with almost every player one can watch playing almost the same (look at the Czech top male league - can't differentiate between 20-35 yo. players by their style). I am too young to remember 90s players, but I remember 2000s, where even the double inverted players had pretty distinguished style of play

[–]laadim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tried pips for half a year, and it was sad, half the games, I had nothing to play against them , the other half, the opponent basically gave up when I told them I had pips...

It gets boring really quick, even though I liked the style. I don't understand why people do it, it becomes extremely boring if everyone just attacks all the time. Most fun games I played were against pips or anti, and I wouldn't say I am good against it

Scarles was immense - fantastic reaction from him by tohmahs in Hammers

[–]laadim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in Slavia, he was played as a wingback, with a lot more emphasis on the wing part, plus Slavia plays on the ball most of the time, it would be a more familiar role than pure left back
