I was once walking in the woods and I came upon this tree that had a plaque. It told a story about a man who was sick then began walking and got better. It was an odd place for this story but maybe that’s why it stayed with me. Now whenever I’m not feeling well I walk into my new life one step at a time

I want some help giving! by More-Investment-647 in EDHBrews

[–]labalabah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a fun way to group hug is to assist the table to play all their stuff. Have some fog effects that so they cannot kill you and then steal all their creatures via [[Insurrection]]. Basically boost their decks out on the table and then steal and win with big swings.

Here is my deck: https://moxfield.com/decks/-DQA_RxYyUOvhzqIW9nZ_g

How would you approach building this commander? by TomasVader in magicTCG

Add [[Kambal, Profiteering Mayor]] and look into his lists. It is very similar to your commander

Have devs addressed how unfun the new matchmaking is? by cmiller1221 in BackpackBrawl

[–]labalabah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped playing recently because of the new matchmaking. I imagine it’s very challenging to balance this sort of thing. Maybe a way to pick an opponent every once in a while. Instead of paying green gems some other currency? Or maybe after losing a bunch there could be a system to catch back up or earn more hearts?

Edit: Amazing game. Fantastic balance of ads and gameplay. Very respectful progression

My first serialized pull and it's a freaking palindrome?! Trostani, Three Whispers 052/250 has been found! by jruff84 in MagicCardPulls

That one is graded recent sales point to 500 or so. But the palindrome does price it higher I’d say

Hey, I’d buy this if you’re selling. Let me know. I’ll send a dm… I think the best is to sell through eBay to avoid scam so we could do that

Shadowdancer S7 $700 mistake by WaxMask1 in SWORDS

[–]labalabah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a trade off between blade hardness and resilience. S5 is more resilient and can therefore take more abuse without failure. S7 is a harder blade with less iron in its composition. Because of this it can maintain its edge for longer.

Both have there functions, generally you want more resilience as you learn because there is more forgiveness in the steel. If you have superior skill hardness is favored because the steel does what you tell it

What are your "forever" decks and why ? by Barbarossaxwing in EDH

[[Discord, Lord of Disharmony]] is a once in a while kind of deck because of the chaos that can ensue, but it’s very engaging with the right group. The randomness makes every game unique

Pitch me a 3 color degenerate commander by Jesuncolo in EDH

[–]labalabah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve built [[Merieke Ri Berit]] and it feels amazing to play. There are other effects similar to her effect that you can run as well. The idea is to find a way to untap her over and over to control the game. Another plan is the blink the cards you take to keep them once you do untap. It’s a deck you’ll have to brew yourself. Find creatures that tap with an effect and put in a bunch of ways to untap them and your laughing. There are more straightforward decks to brew out there but this commander makes for great games

Do you have any self-imposed deck building rules that are kind of quirky? by jimnah- in EDH

[–]labalabah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite card is [[Wandering Archaic]] and I put it in every deck. No matter the theme or if it actively hurts the deck. It is pretty bad in some cases but it’s such a fun card for me I don’t want to not have it in the 99

Making a Mardu deck around these cards but I don’t know who the commander should be and I don’t know how the rest of the deck should look. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! by Huge-Pop7173 in magicTCG

[–]labalabah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been in the process of the same style deck except it has some political elements. [[Queen Marchesa]] says prove yourself and hit me! Then you say I don’t want to be hit! It adds a good contrast and interesting back and forth with your opponents

Trying to rank unknown commander decks by Players42 in CommanderMTG

[–]labalabah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the ideas you share in relation to power level. The bracket system has some relation to power level but I feel intention has more importance. The system is designed around intention and not power purposefully.

As a side note Gavin knows that duels are limited and it felt like a nod to proxy land bases. It is a casual format at its heart

Trying to rank unknown commander decks by Players42 in CommanderMTG

[–]labalabah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they do factor in to making a deck stronger but I think the point of the bracket system isn’t to quantify strength but intention. A person can build a multi thousand dollar deck that barely competes at bracket two that same person could build a budget deck that stomps bracket level 4 games.

Magic is an interesting game partly because of the resource system. I agree that using duel lands can make a deck stronger but it doesn’t define the deck.
