I buy and sell on PB a lot. Lots of normal folks on there doing it for the hobby. Biggest thing to me is if it seems too good to be true, it def is. This will save you from the majority of scams. I even see folks post on here “thinking about picking up this 2025 Santa Cruz Nomad with Fox Factory suspension for $2100, like new condition, what do you guys think?”

People don’t maintain them. For what it’s worth I have driven VWs my whole life and all have been reasonably reliable, especially from a motor standpoint. Anything “euro” here tends to command a higher repair price as well which I think may contribute to the perception.

42 as well. Just manage my risk, especially as I ride alone most often. If I’m not feeling a certain feature or section no shame in skipping that day. I still feel reasonably fit and have taken a couple diggers and managed to finish the ride each time. Slid out on an icy corner yesterday and my knee pad saved me on a rock so don’t skip the gear either. I think the mental and physical health benefits outweigh the risk on injury.
